My last day of this giving challenge has come and gone and I find myself continuing to stretch myself in the area of giving on many levels. It has been a wonderful tool. I am thankful that I was receptive to this opportunity for growth and enrichment. It does change you in a very positive way.

I have always had concerns about giving money to homeless people, or people begging on the streets.

I read recently that instead of money it is better to offer bottled water, ready- to- eat food or toiletries. Also the article emphasized being polite and showing consideration, saying hello or being friendly and looking them in the eye. They are human, just like you. I am busy these evenings making "neck warmers" for a group of "yoga buddies". These five women come to my home studio once a week to practice flow yoga. We share a lot together because it is a small group. I want to show these women how much I appreciate them and enjoy working with them through yoga practice. They are also all knitters and so appreciate knitted gifts... It will be so much fun when I give them... the neck warmers are variegated and all different colors and each has 2 big buttons… Continue

One thing that I have learned to do a little differently in the giving area is to apologize without qualifying it or defending what I did.... just a straight out flat apology.
That can sometimes be a gift that helps another feel empowered, understood and cared for.
Wow, I had never thought of that as a gift before.
