Today was my first day of the gift giving challlenge. I had wanted to start my new year on a positive note and so the gift giving challenge only made sense! - Why I'm choosing to give:
- I have been recently diagnosed with a rare neuromuscular disease. After reading Cami's story, I have been inspired to reach out to others. It is easy to see that giving helps oneself to focus on others and not their own dark despair. I am or was a nurse because I have always desired to help and heal others. Now what I face with this disease is the feeling of inadequacy. If I can still give mindful, small gifts then perhaps I won't feel so inadequate, perhaps I still can make a difference in other peoples lives.
- What I'd most like to receive:
- Feelings of self worth, positive energy, love of myself and others, appreciation of things no matter how small.
- How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
- A wonderful friend gave me the book in a time of need.
- About me:
- I am a mother of two young children and have been a neonatal/pediatric nurse for two decades. My life has come to complete stand still this past year with the diagnosis of myasthenia gravis, hopefully it will start moving at least a little with treatment in two weeks. This diagnosis came after an incredibley emotional and financial devastating year. When it rains it pours! An old friend that I haven't seen in years came into my life(truly a blessing) and gave me a copy of 29 Gifts in 29 Days. So here I am, ready to start the challenge!
