Why I'm choosing to give:
I have been extremely restless this last year or so and I have been looking at ways to volunteer my time, outside of work. I think this would be the most efficient and less time restrictive for me.
What I'd most like to receive:
By giving? I think I would like to know that I made someone's day, no matter how tiny the giving. I made someone smile.
About me:
I am a 40 year old, woman in a long distant, long term relationship. My fiance lives in Massachusetts. I have no children, but, have begun desiring to have a baby, so I am in discussions with the doc and the fiance to see how that can happen. I wrote a book, "The Kiss to Betrayal, Coming through Emotional and Mental Abuse". My first book, so I am a first time author!!!

Day 9...Where has time gone?

Posted on August 26, 2008 at 7:09pm 1 Comment

I've been reading the other blogs, especially the ones on prayer, specifically the prayer chain. First I want to say that the chain is a wonderful gift (I wish I had thought of it...:) just joking). But, I keep going back to what I did on Day 1 and every day. I pray for my family and friends, coworkers and alike. I guess when I'm not thinking about it, I am always giving, daily.

I'm doing something pretty special for my sister. She recently retired from the Air Force after 20 years… Continue

Missed Day 4 and 5, but here is 6

Posted on August 24, 2008 at 8:48am 0 Comments

I didn't completely not do any giving on days 4 and 5, I just didn't journal anything. Nothing stood out as fantasmic, but, I know in there I gave something(s) to someone/people.

Today is Day 6 and this is one of the difficult days of giving. I just gave my fiance much needed space. Even though we are 3000 miles apart right now. He's had a loss this year and he is having to make some real tough decisions about his adult children. Being a Therapist, you would think that I would get… Continue

Day 3-It was a little bit of giving and receiving

Posted on August 20, 2008 at 11:23pm 0 Comments

Hey Everyone...

Day 3, well, what did I give today? I had to think about that one long and hard most of this evening and part of earlier today. I'm thinking that I received an awful lot, maybe more than I gave...

I met with my Supervisor this afternoon, like every week and I give her the run down on the events that have happened during the week and the few days prior and though its my job, she told me today that she was very impressed with my job performance and my "gumption" to… Continue

Day 2-Was another success!

Posted on August 19, 2008 at 7:52pm 0 Comments

Today I gave to an employee, an At A Boy! She has been struggling in her work and today I informed her that she was improving and doing much better in those things that she needed.

I have been wondering why it is that I was hired in for this new position. I have been informed through my faith, that this woman has been going through some really difficult stuff and I am now her Supervisor to provide her with the much needed support. Its tough though...;)

Day 1-Completed

Posted on August 18, 2008 at 11:13pm 1 Comment

Well, as you read earlier today....I have completed day one of giving. It was fairly painless. :) The one thing I didn't include earlier today is that I also gave a gift to a friend this morning. I have a good friend who is working at being healthy. I had tried a vitamin supplement and it didn't seem to do me any good (made my heart race). I knew that she would be able to handle the extra vitamins and I passed it along to her, a full sample bottle.

I also shared a piece of candy and… Continue

Hi. Too bad you can't come to the LA meet up. You should join our LA/OC 29 Giver group that just formed so you can be a part of any discussion about future local events.

How advantageous is this! I wanted to do some volunteering and now, I get to do something so similar and with little time constraints! Sometimes God just keeps opening doors!
