Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I would like to show my son that actions speak louder than words. One person can make a difference. My new year Resolutions revolve around the quote:
"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called "Opportunity" and its first chapter is New Year's Day." I also found the perfect way to frame this into goals from a Yoga and Spiritual Magazine:
1. Service to the Divine
2. Service to yourself as an instrument of the Divine: this includes taking care of myself both physically (joining YMCA to work off baby and junk food fat) and mentally (reconnecting with old friends)
3. Service to all Sentient Beings in my life
4. Service to your local community
5. Service to the Global Community
What I'd most like to receive:
The knowledge that what I do does make a difference.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?

Today I created a Valentine's Day card for a young soldier in Afghanistan. I hope that small, insignificant token puts a smile on his face. He is not forgotten.

I received a Spark card in the mail. I believe it was gift number 8 from Mother Art. It was filled with potential, lost pieces of my old self. Our lost friendship in an envelope. This certainly did achieve the effect that was intended. I want to be that person again...creative and giving.Mother Art reminded me of that feeling you get when a surprise old-fashioned letter or card comes in the mail. I joined Soldiers Angels as a way to do this. The ability to touch the lives of others through a… Continue

"Joy is found not in the finishing the activity but in doing it"

After several false starts, I have begun my 29 gifts journey. This month has passed by in a blur...filled with illness after illness...bronchitis, ear infections, stomach viruses, acid reflux (who knew there was a such a thing for babies). This journey was meant to be both for myself and also to reconnect with an old friend. My old friend has started this journey ahead of me. She is in a different place in life than me.… Continue
