Day 6 & 7 A smile for Candy Man & Chemo Day Made Better by a Smiley Sticker

This will be somewhat brief as I'm a littled tired after chemo today.Day 6 gift - offered to send a special hand made smiley pin to an older gentleman that is known as "the Candy Man" to kids in his church. I am told that he creates a lot of smiles with his kindness & I would love to put a smile on his face. Hope it works!Day 7 - Had the opportunity to give a few gifts today, but the one that I am counting as the gift of the day, is this one. When I arrived at the Dr's office for my…See More

Why I'm choosing to give:
I am choosing to give because I think it's the key to a happy satisfying life.
What I'd most like to receive:
I'd like to receive more conscious awareness about who, what, and when to give.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I've been a personal member for over a year.
About me:
Hi there! My name is Lubabat Scotland (I have a 29 Gifts membership under that name as well) and I started my own giving/kindness project called Operation Smiley Face after completing several rounds of the 29 Gifts giving challenge. Now, a little over a year since the project began, I am here to take the challenge under the projects name. I think taking the challenge for OSF will infuse new energy and new life into the giving, thereby keeping it fresh and new.

In addition to MS, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer in Aug. of '09 (last year). OSF has been a saving grace for me, by giving me something positive and loving to focus on. I don't think I would be doing as well as I am physically or mentally without it. I owe it, as well as Mbali, Cami and this site, a debt of gratitude for keeing a smile on my face through these difficult and challenging times.

Day 13 - Releasing of the Ribbon

Posted on September 13, 2010 at 11:13pm 3 Comments

I am a crafter, and as such I tend to accumulate a lot of things that I convince myself that I will use at some point! Sometimes I do get around to using them, but most of the time, I'm sad to say, I don't. Well, in trying to re-organize my space I realized that I had a giant basket filled to the brim with spools of ribbon. Many of them never opened, and several were even in the same color! All just sitting there. So my gift for day 13 was to give a little more than half of… Continue

Day 12 - OK This One Was On Me Again

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 11:44pm 3 Comments

In my previous 2 blogs I mentioned having help giving the "gifts". I am sure that my smile-partner, and friend, would have had no problem helping again, but I really wanted to push and challenge myself to give today's gift myself. Happily I was successful! The gift for Day 12 was to reach out to a fellow blogger. I commented on her neat blog, then offered to send her a custom smiley pin.

It felt great to get back on the wagon, but it's also nice to know that it's ok to ask for…

Day 11 - Partnered giving Part II

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 9:14pm 2 Comments

I am still feeling pretty zonked from my chemotherapy. So thanfully my PIK (partner in kindness) stepped in again in giving a gift on behalf of OSF on this 11th day of us taking the challenge. Here is the brief, but totally "perfect" report:

"Gift gave at the birthday party. A little boy stubbed his toe and was crying so I went over and gave him a smile token from my purse. :-)…

Day 10 - Partner Gifting

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 11:51am 4 Comments

Yesterday's gift was special to me because it was done in partnership with someone else. I knew when I signed up for the challenge that there might be a few days that I wouldn't be able to give a gift. Well yesterday, day 10, was that day. So, I asked my friend aka my "partner in kindness" if she would please give the day's gift on behalf of OSF. Thankfully, she agreed and this is what happened in her words:

"Last night at the dance studio there was a little girl (around 8…

Lubabat Alabi Scotland
Hi, all

I hope I am posting this correctly. This is Babet's husband. Things have progressed rapidly with babet. I am affraid she is near the end of this battle. Please say a prayer for her so that the end will be peaceful. She is a fighter so I am not sure how long it will be, but from all indications it will sooner rather than later. I will keep you all abreast of the situation.

Thanks

Scotty
