29-Days Not Forgotten, Day 17

Posted on October 18, 2008 at 3:30pm 1 Comment

I have not forgotten to give ... more so I've just been super busy. I have some things that I will share about my giving.

Today, Day 18 - Told my husband to go shopping and enjoy his time. "Get what you need honey!" I have had the last year off of work so I could be with our 4-year old son. Oct 27 is my first day back to work. We're looking forward to having some spending money again. Amazingly we have lived with buying only what we needed! After over a year, we are needing things… Continue

Thanks for Growing our Food, Day 8

Posted on October 8, 2008 at 8:30am 1 Comment

Today I made a point to thank my Community Supported Agriculture farmer for the great efforts and beautiful veggies that he has been feeding families in Minnesota with since May. Every week he writes a detailed newsletter about life on the farm. He includes snippets of planting, harvesting, delivering and highlights the work of his crew. He shares successes and failures, toils and joys. We have made so many wonderful meals and love… Continue

Thanks for the Inspiration, Day 7

Posted on October 8, 2008 at 8:30am 1 Comment

This was so easy to do that if feels like it shouldn't count, but it just sort of appeared. I found a blog that totally inspired me and I let the author know about it.

"Dear Mayra, I just wanted to tell you how much I like your blog. I was struck by your photo and intro video .. you have a great name and design as well. This inspired me! Great BRANDING!!! I wanted to thank you. I have my own marketing… Continue

Attitude is Everything, Day 6

Posted on October 7, 2008 at 10:00am 2 Comments

Anyone who knows me - knows that I live the real-life version of This Old House. Our house is a charming little lake cottage that was once a seasonal and weekend vacationers refuge. As times changed our little house became part of a neighborhood that was bound by little houses like ours and new and bigger homes on the lake. We are a stretch of humanity that clearly shows old and new.

My husband and I have toiled more than many on this house and have not always been happy about… Continue

Sunday Sermon, Giving Day 5

Posted on October 6, 2008 at 7:30am 2 Comments

In church the sermon was on giving. Wow! I thought. At our church the sermon isn't always on giving, in fact I can't remember a sermon that was specifically entitled giving. It seemed so timely. It had been my third Sunday alone at church. Well, E was in Sunday school, but J was hunting for the second weekend in a row, and the weekend before he was working. I was feeling a little sorry for myself.

I thought about many things yesterday, but what I came up with was… Continue

Hi SAS

Thanks for the comment. I see in your bio that you like podcasts. You might check out Writers on Writing if you haven't. It is awesome. They interview so many wonderful writers, publishers, and agents. I get a lot out of it and learn about new books I'd never hear about. You can find it on I-tunes.

A writing room is beautiful. For the longest, I had a desk in the corner of my bedroom. I love my space and use it often. But I move around a lot. Sometimes even outside :)
