Back on track...

Over the very busy weekend it seems like I completely lost my place. I tried to think back to find those 'gives' that I made unconsciously, but somehow those don't seem to count. I feel like I need to make the conscious decision to give, with thought and planning. So, I'm trying now to get back on track. Yesterday my 'give' was a contribution to a cause that helps to buy airtime/phone cards for servicemen and women so that they can call home. Today, my 'give' was again monetary, to a children's…See More

Picture perfect!

Today my daughter-in-law (and her mother) brought our grandbaby over for a photo-shoot in her Halloween costume. Montgomery is 10 months old today, and she's going to be a ladybug for Halloween! Too cute! Anyway, today's 'give' was a framed photo of Montgomery for her mom and her other grandmother. I had taken the photos a couple of weeks ago, when I babysat while both parents were at work. They didn't know about our photo-shoot, so the pictures were a complete surprise. The photo above is the…See More

"Oh my gosh Pat! What great gives! They seem small but you really can make a person's day that way! The candy bar to the checkout person - what an awesome idea, and most likely a first for them! Looking forward to reading more about your gives.…"

Yard Eggs

Posted on October 28, 2009 at 7:00pm 2 Comments

I thought of today's 'give' last night, as I was laying in bed about to go to sleep. My best friend's mom had made a yummy orange cake for me. I needed to return her cake pan, and we all know you can't return an empty dish. I decided to return the cake pan filled with yard eggs, gathered in our own chicken coop. That doesn't count as my 'give', though, since I 'owed' them... I told my friend a couple of days ago that I was going to give her mom some fresh eggs, and she said, "She'll love them!… Continue

In a checkout line, AGAIN?

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 8:00pm 2 Comments

I just joined the challenge yesterday. My gift on the first day was to let the person in line behind me check out first, because I knew my transaction was going to take several minutes. I know she appreciated it, because I have a knack for choosing the wrong checkout line in the store EVERY TIME, so it's usually me that is impatiently waiting...

On my second day, I spent a good bit of time throughout the day, thinking of the different ways I could give today. Ultimately, I was in the… Continue
