I held a door for an older person yesterday. It was the last day on my first round. I had hoped to give more, but the opportunity did not knock today. I shall blog again later with more as to what I have learned and doing another 29 gifts.

Yesterday (day 27) I delivered a letter to a church friend. He is a widower of just over a year, and I wanted to contact him, find out how he is doing. He is a lawyer, and I wanted his opinion on an idea that I had a few weeks ago about starting a non-profit organization. I've yet to hear back from him.

I finally did it! After years of avoiding it, I have started reading the Bible again! I am three chapters into the Gospel of St. Matthew. I've already read a few versus that I've previously heard as song lyrics. Reading one chapter a day is not difficult. It only takes a few minutes. This was my gift (to myself, and for people I can talk to about the Bible) for Day 25.

Today is March 1, and in addition to my final gifts this week, I am going to start the "money" thing that someone blogged about last week. You photocopy a personal check, and then start writing out "checks" to people or organizations that need it. This will be an exercise in discovering exactly where my philanthropic idea/challenges are.
