The phone gift from yesterday would not go quietly into the night. It wanted to put me through the paces. Lesson learned: sometimes a gift worth giving is a gift worth working for. I arrived triumphantly in my friend's office today with new phone and charger in hand. Together we huddled over our cells for the "changing of the guard" as she put it (the removal of the sim card from her phone and placement into the new phone). Big moment. My cell phone is as old as my daughter (going on three). I bought it a month before she was born. Last night it decided it's destiny had been fulfilled and it departed to Technology Heaven. This was stunning to me since it gave no prior indication it would be leaving me high and dry without a phone. My daughter Mary has two wonderful daycare teachers. When she first started attending school two days a week last summer we were dealing with a lot of fear and seperation anxiety, but her teachers comforted and supported us both. Which was a real blessing, because I don't know who was taking it harder, Mary or myself! But over the months, she has grown to love daycare and has a real connection with her classmates and her teachers.
