Yesterday, my gift for myself was gianduia gelato:) (chocolate hazelnut).
I had forgotten to do the grocery shopping for my hostess yesterday afternoon, so my gift was to do it after dinner last night. My how nice it is to shop in an empty grocery store at 9:30 at night!

Yesterday, I started with a gift for myself - a walk. Then, my gift to someone else was loading the dishwasher. I really didn't want to, but just made it my gift - and once you get going, it really doesn't take that long. And there's an odd sense of satisfaction about fitting it all in there....
Today my gift was to pick up a couple cans that are littering the park I walk to during my morning walk. I always forget to bring a bag, so I figured I'd just pick up two and carry them. …

hello all -
The last couple days I've been "off" for some reason. So I haven't been giving consciously (though have had people say to me, "Oh - this could be your gift for the day!" - but it hasn't been a conscious effort.)
So I'm kind of down about the whole thing. I've restarted before and gotten to 29 days so I'm not sure why this time it's bugging me so much.
But today's a new day - a cold one here though - 35 this morning, but up to 60 by afternoon. Perhaps it's…

Sent a thank you e-mail to someone who gave me an opportunity last week to try something I've never done before. It was also something, ten years ago, I could have never imagined I'd be able to do. :)
We did the Camino in the summer (July) with our two children who were 12 and 10 at the time. On average we walked 17 km per day, which is about 11 miles, so 12 miles on average (without children) should be fine. It wasn't difficult to find accommodation, there are plenty of albergues (hostals) on the way. If you want to have a bed it is indeed recommendable to arrive not too late. If you have a mattress with you you can always find shelter as most hostals will offer you a place on the floor if the beds are full. It happened to us on a couple of occasions and we then searched for a hotel, which cost a bit more, but we didn't carry mattresses and wanted a proper bed. Most hostals want you out early in the morning (by 7.30 approx.) Make sure you start somewhere where you can acquire a 'stamp card' which gives you access to the inns and is your proof of walking. Socks should be comfortable walking socks and make sure you have comfortable shoes (try them out before!) to avoid blisters (I suffered from that). It is handy to use a thin cloth as a towel (pareo) as it is light and will dry quickly. Have you looked on the websites about the Camino? What is your starting point? Kind regards, Anita
Hi Rebecca, just browsed through your website and read that you are going to walk the Camino this year. I walked the (last 130 km of the) Camino in 2003 with my family and it was a great experience. Kind regards, Anita
