I wasn't out of the house today, but tried to start in simple email ways at least. I am about to begin a 5-day retreat tomorrow, and I know the greatest gifts will be FOR me. But today I needed to really thank the person -- I don't know her well, and we've not been easy friends -- who led me to this. So I did. I felt awkward about it, but wonderful after I had done it.
