Days 24-28 of Giving

I'll admit I feel a bit disappointed with myself for not keeping up with my blog. Here's what I remember of the last few days:~ treated my boyfriend and I to a nice dinner Friday night for a late Valentine's day/ celebration that he passed the first part of his CPA exam~ bought a Real Change newspaper which gives all of its $1 cost profit to the low income vendor. I gave $3~ planted 2 organic strawberry plant starters today at the farmer's market~ phoned my family this weekend (something I…See More

Losing track of my giving days...Monday and Tuesday...

I am in such a giving mood. I think this really is addictive- just like my marathon training! Yesterday, amidst my very busy day, I made it to the post office to mail two little cards one with a quote magnet inside to a couple of my friends I feel the need to reach out to. It feels so good to send a little "hello" to someone when they're least expecting it!Since I didn't get around to it yesterday, tonight I made my first ever Trifle! I found a nice card and along with the trifle I will…See More

Days 20 and 21~

I can't believe how fast this daily giving challenge is going by and I'm feeling that I want to continue this daily giving indefinitely. Yesterday was my good friend's last day in town and I made sure she see the gorgeous view from the top of Mount Si. Afterwards, I treated us to an ordered in pizza and made delicious and indulgent brownies for out last night together watching the Olympics. This morning my gift was to dedicate my yoga practice to one of my friend's mother who died almost a year…See More

Days 17, 18, and 19~ Daily giving

I haven't kept up with my blog very well, but I am pleased that I have been giving daily little gifts to those around me. Tuesday, I let a car into the line of traffic in front of me that was turning from a side street- there was no break in site to enter the main road. I also baked cookies for my friend who is visiting for the rest of the week and some for my boyfriend's parents.Wednesday, I put all my positive energies into being a good hostess and making my friend feel at home.Today,…See More

Day 16~ Women for Women International

Among other tasks of the evening- a pretty thorough clean of my already fairly tidy apartment in preparation for my good friend visiting on Wednesday- I made a donation to "Women for Women International". If you haven't heard of it, it's a pretty nice group that provides financial assistance to women in 3rd world countries by providing resources to create their own business practice and provide for themselves. It's a simple gift, but it's easy to give up a nice dinner or a week of latte's to…See More

Day 13, 14, & 15~ Happy Valentine's Day!!

This season of love always warms my heart even expressing our love should be a daily occurrence. The last few days I have felt quite generous with tips, raffle tickets to support Haiti, surprising my boyfriend with little snacks when he's at work, and cheering on my fellow runners at a group run. For Valentine's day, my boyfriend and I spent time together. No errands or agenda, just enjoyed being with each other- a walk around the neighborhood and to the farmers market, lunch at a local…See More

Day 11 & 12~ gifting is difficult during a busy week

I can hardly believe it is Thursday night!! I feel as though all I have done this week is sleep, eat, work, and run, and sleep again! I feel as though I have been pretty present through all this hussle and bussle and have tried some new treatment ideas I've gotten some positive feedback from (enthusiastic and participating clients and oh yes, laughter). Also, today I lent my boyfriend my umbrella so he wouldn't walk in the rain, though I in tern walked AND rain in the rain. I just finished…See More

What a great way to start the day. It's ironic but I think making sure we are on the right path (by setting boudaries) is the best way to "show up" for other people in our lives.

Day 6- Thai Food

So it wasn't completely selfless, but tonight I treated my boyfriend and I to a delicious thai dinner. He's been busy studying for the last several weeks, so it was wonderful to have a Friday night together. I dragged him to a local art walk tonight and I at the end of the evening suggested we get dinner. After the deliciousness, I plunked my credit card down on the table- he didn't even argue (like he would a year ago when we first started dating), just smiled and said "Thank you, honey."

I'm glad to hear that she came out of surgery. I think that's a great gift. It is especially mindful. I will send up a prayer for her. I hope everything turns out well.

Day 5- sending positive energy

Yesterday I spoke with my grandma over the phone. Her older sister was scheduled to have a major surgery today. I wouldn't have originally considered this a gift, but I have been trying to send little prayers/ good and healing energy toward my Great Aunt and Grandma throughout the day. I also called my mom and aunt to try to encourage them to go cheer up Gram as I am too far away to do so myself. I haven't called my gram today, but am hoping to write her a letter/ email tonight. A small gift,…See More
