Well, who says when we are 'supposed' to do what?? I've had multiple careers/ 'lives' -- lived in 6 states, 6 countries, countless towns cities and villages. At the point where many people expected us to finally 'settle down' (our early 50's) Steve…

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
They found a neurological birth defect when I was 36 and I had neurosurgery a few months later. There is no cure only symptom management and it's not working well for me. I had to quit my job in order to focus on my health. Two years ago we moved to Washington and I don't have a job here, I don't know friends here, and my son stayed back while attending college. So I feel like a complete nobody.
What I'd most like to receive:
A sense of self, I want to find myself again. I got lost on an ocean of symptoms, doctors and eventually feeling sorry for myself. I need to get back to who I am.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I am currently reading Cami's book.
About me:
I am 40, married to the military, one son who is 20. I scrapbook, quilt, blog, journal and love to read. My husband will be overseas all next year and I will be traveling. I think this will be the perfect opportunity to give of myself and to find myself at the same time.

Searching...............

So I am really finding myself at this huge crossroads in my life. It's not just the moving. I firmly believe I am part gypsy as I have had well over 20 address in the past 20 years. Maybe it's the fact that I turned 40 back in July that's making me melancholy. It could be the fact that I am now finding myself homeless (granted that is by choice but I am homeless none the less). It may be the fact that I had to give up the career I adored a few years ago because of my health. Maybe it's the fact… Continue

Poetry

My departure is eminent
Starting a new chapter
My soul is transforming
A new journey its captor
My tides now changing
A new wind now blows
The night sky my scout
I pursue where it goes
Roaming the World
Blissful, eager, free
Adventure lies ahead
Anxiously awaiting me
The wonders I seek
Challenging and new
Fills my heart’s void
From the absence of you
My heart will yearn
My body will follow
Our beauty I crave
To suffice my hollow
My soul will wander
My spirit will soar
Exploring the cosmos
That H… Continue

Just one more.....

So tonight is the last night in our bed. The movers come tomorrow to begin packing up our house. This is also the same time I have agreed to watch our friend's 8 year old while she goes to a B&B with hubby who is home from the sandbox. It works out well because it gives us a place to sleep each night while they are packing our stuff. She is also loaning me her car to use since my car is on a boat. It feels like I don't know where anything is. I am exhausted and frazzled so I think playing wi… Continue

Choosing different thoughts.........

Today in addtion to finishing my packing duties I am working on data management. UGH. I am quite capable of doing this it's just a tedious task. We have 3 computers, 2 external hard drives, 3 flash drives and like a bizzilion cds. I am now having to sort through all this to make sure he gets the files he needs to take with him and I need to make sure I am not deleting pictures or music cause that would break my heart. There will be hours and hours to this little task. And to be completely honest… Continue

Shalunya, on the writing side, I can remember only one time when the words came out of my head so fast and furious that I had to write them down, in the middle of the night, nonetheless. It was like I was taking dictation from this unknown source. It was a poem titled "Ode to Lost Loves" and it seemed like it was meant as a closure to my one true love that had ended in heart-break for me. I'll send it to you in another message. I think it is a gift to have these words, stories, poems, etc pouring forth from you. Your soul is speaking to/through you.
