Awesome post Genuine. I really appreciate your candor and overall good will. Even something viewed as "negative" is really just a positive that's got a little dust on it. Talking to the parent about that incident will hopefully yield more positive b…

Random Acts of Cyber Kindness

All of my greatest ideas come to me in the shower. I am certain that were Edison alive today he'd say something like "I had just put the conditioner in my hair when it hit me, there might be a way to talk to my Great Aunt Ida in Boca, using this telegraph thing and this phonograph technology. I could even patent my invention, maybe give it a zippy name, like an itelephonograph."

So that's where I was today when at least one of my Day 14 gives hit me: random acts of cyber kindness. I have notice… Continue

Lucky 13

Finally, a way to exorcise the bad juju associated with the number thirteen. I mean, there have been a series of horror movies devoted entirely to this very date, not to mention an unspoken agreement between parents that thirteen is the age where your hair grays overnight and you start to fantasize about calling driving to Beverly Hills and leaving your teenager on Branjelina's door step. But now, thirteen is just lovely double digit notched onto the giving belt. Thirteen days and climbing and t… Continue

There Are No Small Gives, Only Thinking Makes it So

I live in Massachusetts. That's the state formerly known as the Blue one recently converted to the Red one, and pretty much hurtling toward the Purple one as so many people are voicing their anger, fear, and frustration with any number of things related to government both big and small. I have no intention of mucking up this lovely, peaceful, zen forum with a political discussion (exhale all). But the recent special election for the Massachusetts senate seat brought out the worst in people, in m… Continue

Live the Dream, Give the Dream

Many are remembering Martin Luther King Jr. today, including almost every prominent news site. The Huffington Post, which both unnerves and amuses me for its larger than life photos and captions, making me want to ask "Why are you yelling at me Huffington Post??" caught my attention today. It features a pronounced black and white photograph of Dr. King walking surrounded by a slew of supporters. What struck me was how small the good reverend appears in the picture. We are used to seeing him cata… Continue
