Maybe your example of giving will affect the people around you. If they can see how enjoyable it is they may not feel the need to cling on to things themselves.

DAY 29 OF 29

On the last day of the 29 days of giving I brought non-perishable food to my gym that was collecting food and at the end of the 29 days it felt as if this was not such a hard task to do, even though others might assume so....I learned that really in small ways you can make a difference and be giving and people will appreciate it ( not all but most ) ....by doing this you also see some incredible selfishness in others that you may have just taken for granted as "normal" before , but now look at…See More

With the economy stalled, so many more families find themselves in need. Thank you for caring enough to send much needed food their way. Bless you.

What a great idea to hand out the Christmas cards. I prepared my companies cards today (with the help of my daughter who is home from college). Instead of mailing them all tomorrow, I think I will personally take a few to my customers and vendors.…

Simple and sweet and needed! That is what giving in all about. Being a dog lover myself I can tell you they appreciate and deserve our devotion. I believe you can tell alot about a person's character from how they interact with animals. You are…

I also enjoy getting Christmas cards. This time of year it always seems like one more thing to do though...almost like a chore. I should focus on the people receiving them and the pleasure that it will most likely bring them. Better go get started…

I struggle sometimes with no plan for giving on a particular day. This is a good idea and one I haven't thought of. A generous tip to a waiter is a good idea. Thanks for sharing this.

DAY 19 OF 29

Today I gave a ride to a friend's wife and his son...She is suffering from vertigo so can't drive at the moment and she had to take her youngest son to daycare....Not being able drive can be a real hardship , especially when you have kids to cart around ....I know that they have found it incredibly helpful when I offered up these rides in the last couple weeks.

DAY 14 OF 29

Today I offered to host a holiday party at my place for one of my friends, his wife and their kids when they come in to town for a visit over the holidays....I hosted a BBQ for them when they came in for a family visit in the summer and with all our friends there it was one of the best parties we've all been together at for quite a while.

LOL, making lasagna for a friend is what I did on Day 1 of my 29 days. My friends husband is in the hospital with complications from cancer, her and the kids were hoping he would make it home for Thanksgiving, but doesn't look like that…

Why I'm choosing to give:
Saw the founder Cami on the Today show and know quite a few people with MS and I think it's a really good idea ....
and a good way to round out what has been kind of a crappy year all around for me and most people i know with the recession and worries over the economy ....but people should see that just by extending some kindness and gifts towards others some good can karma should come back ...
What I'd most like to receive:
I found 2009 to be such a year of "rudeness" and coldness from so many people worried about the economy and hope that by extending the idea of gifting to people that some good will come out of it and rub off on others....

Today I brought a bottle of wine as a gift to two different sets of friends who were both having open houses for Christmas. Wine is probably the easiest gift to give out at this time of the year along with cards.

Welcome to the site and to the Challenge! I am also new to this site, I'm on Day 3 of 29. Love your gives so far, very thoughtful, especially driving your friend's wife and her kids. I agree with your comment that 2009 has been a very "rude" year, for lack of a better word. Hopefully we will be able to turn that around at least in our little corners of the world! Good luck with your 29 days:)

One way to get the word out of what you are doing is to print out the little papers on here that show the website and explain what you are doing! A great way to add to our family :) .

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

Mary

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
