Why I'm choosing to give:
Giving is something that I do very naturally. It is something that I usually enjoy...but sometimes not, but in all cases, it teaches me lessons....good ones.
What I'd most like to receive:
art, art supplies, simple handmade goods, art books, original poetry, sketches, vegetarian recipes, vegan recipes, cookbooks, mixed CD's, DVD's, a kind word, comments on my blogspot blog at http://stacyalexander.blogspot.com, encouragement, inspirational quotes, a happy story, hats, scarves, ephemera for my mixed media art.
About me:
I am an artist living in the SF Bay area. I make mixed media art ....mosaics. I am a graduate student in clinical psychology. I am married and have three adult children. I write an art blog every day where I give away free art each month.

I managed to get sidetracked and haven't blogged about this giving challenge for awhile...but I'm still giving. Since June 25, I have given:

2 free mosaic lessons

a plate of homemade cookies to a sick friend

loving care to Maya, Kelley and Maddy

money to someone

a mosaic to someone

a collage to someone

my services as a pet sitter

my services as a house sitter

a bag of ephemera to an artist friend

a massage to J.

Yikes! I've been giving...but forgetting to blog about it.

I've been in the hospital with kidney stones and this morning, I shared a room with an old woman who clearly did not have long to live. I gave her kindness and comfort and though she couldn't speak, I knew she appreciated it.

Day #4.

Posted on June 14, 2008 at 1:59pm 1 Comment

Today, I gave money to an artist who suffered a brain injury some years ago. The money goes toward helping him, his wife and children. The thing is that I read the request for money made by someone who was really awful to me...told a lot of lies about me, tried to smear my reputation in the arts community. This was my way of channeling some of the negative energy that I feel toward that person into something positive.

Day #3.

Posted on June 12, 2008 at 1:53pm 0 Comments

Today, I gave encouragement to a friend who had a bad experience at her last job and who has been struggling to get back on her feet again. She is a very talented artist, and I gave of my time to print a promotional ad for her work and to publicly post about it to alert others of her talent.

I also gave my little dog, Taddy, (age 15) a good massage. He is getting feeble and is experiencing some confusion. The massage seemed to relax him considerably and now he is napping peacefully.

Days #1 & #2

Posted on June 11, 2008 at 3:54pm 0 Comments

I began the challenge yesterday.

Yesterday, I gave my son the promise of a car for his birthday. This will help him tremendously in school and with his new job. It will be a big of a financial sacrifice for us, but he is worth it, and I feel it will help him accomplish some of the goals that he needs and wants to accomplish at this point in his life.

Today, I gave a friend encouragement. She is an emerging artist who is very insecure about her work, so I gave her a bit of… Continue
