Why I'm choosing to give:
To learn to let go
What I'd most like to receive:
Support for the Find a Way Foundation, please see below:

Find a Way Foundation is a non-profit organization, tax ID# 20-8041060. We work to improve and enhance the lives of people who are differently-abled and their families to strengthen the community as a whole. We are a very small grassroots organization made up of parents of children with varying special needs. I, myself, have a son with autism.

One of our goals at Find a Way is to provide employment opportunities for adults who have disabilities so they may live productive and fulfilling lives, which in turn promotes acceptance and understanding. As a culinary graduate and former restaurant owner, I feel the food industry is a wonderful environment in which to forge a career, make social connections and gain valuable life skills.

We are working on opening a restaurant called Cafe Inclusion, where 50% or better of our work force will be made up of individuals who face various physical and developmental disabilities. All proceeds from the restaurant will be directed back into the program which will provide no-cost culinary training and independent living assistance to our employees. We also hope to chronicle Cafe Inclusion's inception as a documentary series.

Please help by nominating Find a Way in the Leading Moms In Business Competition at http://www.startupnation.com/leading-moms-2009/contestant/2833/inde... which will help bring awareness to our cause. You may vote for Find a Way one time per day through March 2009. Thank you for your time and consideration and for sharing our information with others you think may be able to help.

Day 22---Hope

Posted on August 5, 2008 at 12:30pm 4 Comments

For the second time in this challenge, I will be donating to Find a Cure---unfortunately. I say unfortunately because my mother-in-law, Susan, received her second diagnosis of breast cancer today. She beat it the first time in 2003 and we know she can beat it again, but we would sure appreciate it if you could "give" her your prayers and best wishes today, thank you.

Days 19-21 Who could resist that face?

Day 19---Let them eat cake! I love to bake, but don't need the calories, so I shared a fresh strawberry cake with our neighbors.

Day 20---Football booster for a local high school athlete. It's gotta be tough going door to door selling those magazines and entertainment books. Normally, I wouldn't buy one, but that could be my child someday!

Day 21---This one was a no-brainer, just take a look at this:

Day 17 & 18---Give the unexpected

Posted on August 1, 2008 at 7:32pm 3 Comments

So tired these last couple of days, but surprised a classroom (other than my son's) with some much needed supplies and donated towards a new wheelchair for another special needs child.

Day 16---Joy

Posted on July 30, 2008 at 8:02pm 0 Comments

Today's give---pure, unadulterated joy! Sure, it was to a bunch of 4-year-olds, but I think a little might have spilled over to the parents, too :)

Day 15---Tips!

Posted on July 29, 2008 at 1:11pm 0 Comments

It seems everywhere we go, we see them---tip jars. Starbucks, Jamba Juice, street performers, even the Farmer's Market. We might drop a few coins in there we because we don't want to bother with the change, but in most cases, "they're just doing their job", right? Does opening up your wallet and pulling out a dollar or two make a huge difference? I'm not sure, but if you look at the other person's face when you do it, it seems like an easy way to spread a little goodwill.

Hey Steffany! I just went to make a donation, but I don't see anywhere where it says to donate here. Do I just go straight to FAWF website? I thought I could do it somehow on this website.... Let me know. :-)

Steffany ,

I have been trying to give to your foundations and it will not let me do this . I have tried at least 4 times and every time they tell me there is no foundation . I do not understand what is going on. I felt you needed to know . If this is happening to me, how many other people are experience this . I want to give and it will not let me . If you know another way I could do this please let me know . I want to give ! Thank you
Have a beautiful day !

Hey Steffany,

Your son looks exactly like you, My wife Jane, just completed six weeks of radiation for breast cancer and her son has autism. He is high functioning but suffers from Aspergers syndrom.
Dealing with these situations can be so stressful. Sometimes you wish you could just take off. I have had multiple sclerosis for 28 years and I have written a book to help others with chronic illness or disability in their lives better deal with the situation. The title of the book is Life Interrupted, It's Not All About Me. It is my real life story, a self-help memoir written to help others in similar situations deal with the stress put on a relationship as a result of life being interrupted by chronic illness or disabilitty. I'm going to be giving a number of books away during my 29 days and after reading your posts I wanted to share this with you.

If you have the opportunity please visit my web site:

Be well and God bless,
Chris
