Why I'm choosing to give:
I am blessed with many beautiful things, but have realized they are just things and I have been on a journey to identify which items I connect to on a heart level and to move the rest on to those who will use/love it. I've realized it's hard to attract new things when there's no room for anything new to come in!
About me:
After my husband's passing 2 years ago, I re-dedicated myself to finishing my book on New Rules for Modern Medicine to help those going through surgery understand how hospitals have changed and steps they can take to fill in the gaps.

Days 7 & 8

Posted on April 11, 2008 at 9:50am 0 Comments

Day 7 I called my friend when I went out to walk Lucca and she sounded shreded, so I turned around, gathered her up from her lobby and took her to dinner at my favorite Thai restaurant, where I took charge of ordering and listening to her day, which was traumatic, but ultimely a huge step forward for her. And I took my coffee maker, which I don't use, into work so we can make lattes.

My house is still a mess from the party, tonight I'll clean up and get an idea of how much is… Continue

Day 6: Need to refocus

Posted on April 9, 2008 at 9:30am 0 Comments

I was feeling down about not giving yesterday, but then I read Cami's list of simple gives and realized I actually did well! I wrote an email to all the people who came on Sunday telling them how much the day meant to me, and got a few kind responses back.

I gave my office manager the gift of getting out of the office for lunch today. She is on a diet and usually brings her own lunch, but it makes for a very long day. I drove into Berkeley and we had a lovely lunch and were AWAY from… Continue

Day 5: the Pasta Bowl

Posted on April 8, 2008 at 9:52am 2 Comments

LeighAnn came over for dinner and eyed my pasta bowl upon entering. I put it out for the Big Give, but it hadn't been claimed by anyone, so I gave it to her. Turns out her pasta bowl had recenly broken and, being Italian, she was in dire need of a replacement. Awesome.

This creating space stuff is working! My main reason for moving stuff out of my life is to make space energitically and physically for completing my book. In the shower today, I finally got the title for my… Continue

Day 4

Posted on April 7, 2008 at 12:38pm 0 Comments

Wow. What a day! I passed on many, many items to people who will love them and display them and use them. I am still feeling exhilirated. Am expecting a crash later, but perhaps it won't come? Some of my favorite stories:

I offered to give Preston back a Grecian urn that he had purchased on a trip several years ago. I was hoping that he wouldn't be offended that I didn't want to keep it, but I had forgotten the story behind it. He mailed his purchases from Greece, and this urn… Continue

Day 3

Posted on April 5, 2008 at 6:53pm 0 Comments

Getting ready for the Big Give tomorrow. I really loved the feng shui concept of look at an item, does it lift you up or drag you down? Some one told me about it yesterday when I was talking about trying to decide which stuff to give away, someone talked about it tonight, and then I find it on another blog! When the universe wants to give me a message, it hits me over the head with it!

I gave my cousins the gift of a pleasant lunch. We all went out to lunch together and when they… Continue

TC, it's a long time since you first took up the challenge and I've just come across your blog today. Loved the Big Give. I'm a hoarder and I keep getting more things. It must fill some need but I have't identified it yet in order to let it go. I hope that you're continuing to have a brilliant time giving. Perhaps you have some more stories to share.
