OK, I was feeling down yesterday and thought I might do a self-care round starting today. However, I got up with the notion to share some gorgeous heirloom tomatoes from our CSA with a neighbor. I wrote a note and left them on her porch. They were thrilled and had them for dinner tonight. This afternoon I had a session of the leadership course I am taking and I grabbed some wonderful little chocolate bars to bring to everyone, without even consciously thinking about it.

Yesterday (day 28) my gift was a reunion with a former student who is now a gorgeous woman, married and with a toddler. We hadn't been in touch in years (maybe 15?) and I treated her to two hours of catching up over chai latte and breakfast at a favorite cafe. It was a gift for both of us.



For today's gift I gave some cute graphic-design-y buttons to our resident designer. They have sayings like "Death before Comic Sans," which is a bit of a joke since our organizations main font… Continue

We are laying pretty low this weekend after an emotionally tough Thanksgiving. I am giving the gift of attentiveness to my husband- cooking nice meals and being there for him. Yesterday I made a lovely breakfast and set the table beautifully for just the two of us. Tonight I broke out a nice bottle of Clicquot champagne as a treat with our dinner.

Today was not one of the most joyful Thanksgiving celebrations for our family. My husband's father, whom I have mentioned before, has late stage dementia and is living in a skilled nursing facility. He has been declining over the past month, and today after eating the nursing home meal with him we had a family meeting about hospice and final arrangements.
