Catching up with friends

Well, I kinda got off to a rough start. Was a busy day and got home from work without even having given much thought to the giving challenge. In the busyness of life, sometimes we don't stay in touch with friends like we should. So my gift for today was reaching out to several friends that I haven't talked to in a while through texts and phone calls. Sometimes I have trouble slowing down and remembering what's really important and today reminded me of that.See More

A new round

I can't believe it's been two years since I completed my giving challenge. I gave my sister the book for Christmas this year and decided it was time for me to come back and revisit the 29 day giving challenge again. I went back and looked at my old posts and remembered what an amazing impact this had on me. I'm long overdue so have decided to use the 29 days of February to start a new round. See More

Day 29 - A loan for my sister

My sister is going through a lot right now (has been for a while) and having a rough time financially. I offered her the money she needs as my gift. I know she'll want to pay me back, but either way it doesn't matter because I wanted to give it to her regardless. Can't believe it's my 29th day already. I had my ups and downs and found the challenge to be a great experience overall. I plan to return to it again.

Day 24 - Time off with my kids

My middle son has been a little under the weather. Though he probably could have gone to school today, I took the day off and stayed home with him. I just felt that was what he needed right now. We had a good day resting and spending time together. I also used the opportunity while not having to work to go meet my little one for lunch. Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:: I was very inspired when I read Cami's book. I too believe that focusing on others is the ultimate prescription for a full and abundant life.

What I'd most like to receive:: I'd like to see a contagion effect on those I give to - that they in turn will be inspired to do the same for someone else.

How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?: I was inexplicably drawn to Cami's book in Barne's and Noble one day. I carried it around for awhile, didn't purchase it and then went back the next day to get it. It truly inspired me.

About me:: I'm a high school teacher and single mother of 3 beautiful boys. I strive to be the best mother and person I can be, but life is sometimes overwhelming. In 2006, I was divorced from my high school sweetheart of 18 years and the following month my sister was in a terrible car accident that ultimately resulted in the amputation of her right leg. So the last 4 years have been quite challenging to say the least.

Day 28 - A big tip

Enjoyed a nice day - working out, cleaning house, shopping. When to grab some lunch while out shopping. When the waitress brought the check, decided to give her an extra big tip as my gift for the day. She was young and I'm sure working hard for her paycheck. Hope she was happily surprised when she saw the tip.
