After unloading my cart the other day at Henry's, I asked a girl who was swiftly walking towards the store if she'd like to use my cart. She hurriedly said "no thanks," then paused and walked back to me saying, "Oh yes, I…

What Goes Around Rolls Around

Just after I parked my car today at the grocery market (there seems to be a running theme with me and groceries, don't know what that's all about....), I noticed a man who had just unloaded his bags and was getting ready to wheel his cart back when I offered to take it for him. He was so surprised as that NEVER happens at this particular store. The funny thing is on the way back to my car a woman did the same thing to me and offered to bring my cart back!

Hey LuckieGirl, thanks for your comment. To clarify I didn't mean it's discouraging for me to consciously plan out my giving and blog about it, although this has the potential to reduce the goodness to just a task to be completed. It was…

Tricia! I think you hit on what a lot of us struggle with: Trying to remember to give with awareness almost seems forced, and then to write about it for the whole world, or at least the members of the site, to see really feels like it's…

Day Whatever

I'm about two weeks in to my 29 Day Challenge and I realize that I'm not as motivated to do a specific act of giving every day and then blog about it. It's a little discouraging but on the flip side it's also kind of cool because I'm giving things without realizing it; as opposed to giving being a task I should complete each day. It's becoming more part of my automatic nature no matter what the calendar says. Like yesterday I let a guy with fewer grocery items than me go first without thinking…See More

Glad you are feeling better. Your give was perfect! Shelters need all the food donations they can get right now. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well ;-)

An Easy One, But It Still Counts

I've been down with a stomach flu for a couple of days and didn't really have much opportunity for giving while holed up up on my couch. Today I finally ventured out to Henry's (a local food market) where they have these wonderful pre-packaged gift bags filled with various food items for area shelters. They couldn't make it any easier to give as all you had to do was pick the bag you want, ring it up at the register with your other items, and then drop it off in their food bin on the way out…See More

Lotusgirl is so right about the "awareness" thing. Just the fact that you're in touch with your emotions instead of just coasting through the day on autopilot is a step up. After you start focusing on giving, you'll soon…

Why I'm choosing to give:
I'm WAY too focused on me and feel that I've only been feeding the negative aspects in my life by concentrating so hard on them. I think what Cami's doing makes a lot of sense so I'm giving it a try!
What I'd most like to receive:
A shift in attitude away from myself.

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

Mary
