Why I'm choosing to give:
I can't think of a good reason why NOT to give. I think it will help me escape myself and find creativity. To be frank, I am broke, and struggling to find my way as a recent college graduate. I know I will be successful but it can be very discouraging and bleak when you are at the very bottom. But I'm trying to think positively and realize that its all going to be okay. If I can find ways to help others feel positive about their own heavy burdens, mine are likely to feel less heavy, and less like burdens, but mere obstacles and trials.
What I'd most like to receive:
A smile from a stranger...
Hope in humanity...

day 29

Today I went to donate platelets. I have done it before and its a really great way to help out the community. And you are rewarded for you generosity with a gift card of your choice. :)

I have now completed my 29 days of giving. It feels great to have been apart of it and it has definetly helped me see outside of myself. I plan to continue giving in both small and larger ways. I now think its time to stop letting people know what I'm doing to give and try and find ways that may go… Continue

Today, I feel especially worn down and tired. I may be over exerting myself and stressing myself silly. This is why I'm taking the day to do...nothing! I am going to give my body the gift of rest and recuperation. This may sound slightly selfish but I think my body really needs to be revitalized before the week starts up again. And a busy week it will be...

day 27 - TUESDAY- LETS ELECT CHANGE

Posted on November 2, 2008 at 10:07am 0 Comments

Today the political bug inside of me took over. I honestly haven't gotten too absorbed in election stuff in past years but this year feels different. I don't mean this blog to start a debate with others who don't agree with me, its simply a personal reflection on what I feel will happen if we don't elect change into office come Tuesday. As a young person struggling to find work and survive, I feel like the person we elect needs to truly be able to relate to me and understand my place in… Continue

Today I went by a Christian bookstore to look around. I found really cute cards with encouraging and uplifting little sayings. I decided to grab a couple of them and wrote some of my own words inside of the cards. I then hid one in a friend's purse and placed one on a friend's bed to surprise them. One of my friend's said that she almost started crying when she found it in her purse while at work. She is also moving in a week to work at a ski resort in Tahoe. She's one my closest friends that… Continue

I spent time with our new foster dog named Blake. He is a sweetheart but has been abused in the past. He needs all the love he can get! We had a successful bonding session :)

Cute. I live in West Covina. I go to a church in San Dimas. I played in the worship band last week. So fun. There are great places to hike in the area. So, if ever you are out or want to meet half way, let's do it. Peace.

Hi Whitney,
I encourage you, if you havven't already, to look for Randy Pausch on Youtube. In his last lecture, Randy talks about brick walls, what you called in your reason to give, "mere obstacles and trials".
