Hooray for YOU!!!! we did the same this year, I am so disheartened by the shameless consumerism, and frantic-ness that puts such a fog over the real meaning of the holidays. So we started a micro loan fund on KIVA.org. It funds people who are trying…

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
It's been a challenging year working in the education field; we've been faced with significant budget cuts and students with more needs. Colleagues and friends have lost jobs. Everyday I must find the strength to walk back in and try my best to be positive while surrounded by many who are struggling financially, emotionally, mentally, physically. I often feel depleted. I count my blessings everyday and feel that I needed to reconnect more deeply with an unconditional giving spirit. I believe in energy flow and that it is time for a significant shift in consciousness. The positive energy of the universe is unlimited; just needed to remind myself of this truth and share it. I will share this movement with others, including students, friends, yoga students, colleagues, strangers) and participate in being the change that we would like to see in our world.....just because it supports positive energy movement in the world.
What I'd most like to receive:
Renewed energy, passion and sense of expansion. The courage to move into another type of work that may positively reach more people and allow time for greater creativity.

Forgiveness

I am normally very healthy and the past few days I have experienced signifcant pain in my back from an unexpected injury .... it spread around to chest muscles, too, and as I lay in bed awake, breathing through the pain, trying to locate and heal the source, I had the sense that my heart needed healing. Through my practice of yoga I have come to understand the connections among emotional and physical, and saw this as an opportunity to heal something deeper. My wise teachers say, when we heal our… Continue

Choosing to give to charity for the holidays

My husband and I have decided that we will move away from the traditional gift buying for family members to giving to charity in place of holiday gifts. We started a little this year, but realize it is a transition for other family members. So, we're letting them know this year what to expect from us next year and also asking that they do the same in return for us next year.

A great giving option

I just donated for the second time to this wonderful cause: Kondwa Children's Foundation.....they provide basic necessities and schooling for children. You can search for their website and they offer $30- donation cards for holiday gifts or just because.

Nature Conservancy Idea to Share

Here's a great gift giving idea for this year: The Nature Conservancy has several levels of gifts that help restore and save our environment....give the gift of trees being planted or save an acre around the world or help to save an endangered species: http://support.nature.org/site/PageServer?pagename=holidaygiving_xx_hgg

Hello Yogini,
I read your profile and was touched by your words. I agree it is a difficult time for many and also a good time to join this giving movement. If you believe that everything happens for a reason then the struggles that we have are providing us with an opportunity for change on many levels. Each of us, I believe, can open to those challenges and accept what they have to teach us. Just maybe some of us are growing stronger through those challenges.
Sending you light and wishing you sustained trust and peace.

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
