Days #5, #6 & #7

Finally the work binge is over! I've been recuperating at home, my gifts have not been especially inspired these few days, but I feel like Me again now and can focus outward again.Day#5 was New Years Eve, had a small get together for my Buddhist group after work that evening. We chanted together then commenced with the snacks and cocktails. My gift that day was What Color Is Your Parachute with the workbook, for a friend who has been wondering if he should sell his futon store and pursue a new…See More

Days #3 and #4

Yesterday and today I made quiet gifts for customers who needed to shift their energy. Those were special gifts, not something I mention to the clients I do it for, and not part of the makeup artist job description :-) It used to happen spontaneously and was a little bit disturbing until I learned what was going on and how to manage it properly; it's probably similar to reiki. I can usually help people with various minor physical discomforts--migranes, sinus pressure, neck and shoulder pain,…See More

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I tend towards self-centeredness, and am selfish with my time though not with my things. My (mostly) inner voice is often insufferably arrogant, critical and judgmental of others. None of that is making the world a better place, and it's not making my own life any better, either. This is a ritual I can use to develop more genuine compassion for others, as well as relax my sense of self importance.
What I'd most like to receive:
I'd like to evict the shrew who resides inside my mind, and replace that witch with someone who's a delight to be around, and can be let out in public.

Germ Warfare-- Day #2

Posted on December 28, 2009 at 11:50am 1 Comment

Today's gift was not what I'd originally expected. I was planning to make stressed people feel better today, and that's a lot of people in the retail arena.

However, an hour after I got up I was experiencing full-scale symptoms of impending cold, so I quickly zipped to the post office to mail a birthday gift to a friend, then came home and started dosing myself with vitamins, enough garlic to blast a whole flock of vampires, ColdEeze and herbal tea. Have been cooking under… Continue

Post-apocalyptic revelations on Day #1.

Posted on December 27, 2009 at 7:27pm 0 Comments

Beginning this challenge was made incredibly easy for me, no decisions necessary. One of my fellow Buddhists--an older woman-- fell as she was leaving Karaoke late xmas eve and broke her hip; she called from the hospital the following day and I spread the word.

I'm a freelance makeup artist, have been working nonstop this past month, and tonight I escaped early enough to make visiting hours. Took a few treats for Phyllis, a miniature lemon vodka cake, and because I knew her skin… Continue
