Round 3 - Day 16: Bottle of wine & Day 17: 2 trips to the store

Not particularly proud of my newfound habit of lumping two days in one blog.  However, I do remember that some people have stated how verbose my blogs can be.  Also, if I recall, I stated that I would make my blogs significantly shorter as well.  So, 2 for 2 in winning (sans Charlie Sheen.)   ;)Day 16 was a re-gift but a gift nonetheless.  There was a group of girls that I was helping out while on the job at the hotel.  As a gift to me (and as their way of saying 'thank you,') they set down a…See More

Round 3 - Day 14: Towels and Toilet Paper & Day 15: Zipcar and Godiva Chocolates

Whoops!  Didn't realize that I forgot yesterday's post.  The scary thing is:  I found myself asking, "did I NOT give a gift yesterday?"  That's ridiculous.  At this point, whether or not I know it, I do give gifts on a daily basis.  At this point in the game, it is deciding as to which one may have made the biggest impact and/or which gift I gave where my heart said, "I really want to do this for you.  Please allow me to do so."Day 14:  I had already signed out from work.  I was talking to the…See More

Round 3 - Day 13: Footrub and Backrub

Today's Cubs vs. Brewers match was INCREDIBLE!  Not to mention the fact that I was way beyond exhausted due to only 3 hours of sleep beforehand due to the Overnight shift prior, it was WELL worth it!  My buddy, Tom, and I met up for lunch at Taco Bell right near Wrigley Field.  I tried the "Doritos Locos Tacos" Box.  It was...so .... trashy.  Best way to describe it.  I had fun making fun of the name.  I had to say it.  Even the security guard "liked the way" I was "Saying it."  Needless to…See More

Round 3 - Day 9: Dawn Xiana Moon

Yes.  The name is enough to describe my gift for the day.  I recorded vocals for this fine artist a few years back.  It took her a long time for her to release her album (Hell - I recorded vocals for both the songs "Strong" and "Sinking" before Beth Ann and I were dating.)  Some things do take a long time.  However, the album, "Spaces Between" is now released:www.dawnxianamoon.comI was listening to the songs on Spotify to rehearse to them earlier today…See More

Round 3 - Day 5: Medicine AND Day 6: 95 cents towards drawer

Long day yesterday due to the tax man and filing.  Got to the appointment at 10AM.  Got done in 10 minutes.  Got home.  Crashed for 2 hours or so.  Went to work from 3pm to 11pm.  Energy drinks and caffeine were definitely in order.  My gift for yesterday consisted of picking up Ibuprofen for Beth Ann.  She called while I was at work stating that she went to bed early since she wasn't feeling well.  She said that she was out of medicine and asked if I could pick it up for her.  I took care of…See More

Round 3 - Day 4: FWD (Famine War Drought) Relief

VERY short blog since it is 6:15AM and I haven't slept yet.  I have an appointment with the tax attorney at 10AM.  I just stayed up the entire evening (Beth Ann helped me until 3AM) to gather receipts and to enter data.  I am almost finished (I'll need Beth Ann's help when she wakes up for a meeting with her mother this morning.)  Thank GOD that I'll get the opportunity for another nap once I'm done with the tax man.During the evening, I saw a commercial for a campaign.  Geena Davis was the…See More

Round 3 - Day 2: Money for pizza AND Day 3: Nothing But Net Campaign

Combining two days since I was absent from this site yesterday.  Main reason is that...I forgot.  Hahaha.  I didn't get home until very late yesterday evening.  By the time I had remembered, I was too tired to do so.  Therefore, yesterday's gift was to Erin.  I slyly snuck it in since she insisted on not paying her share for dinner the last time we worked together.  She mentioned early on in the shift,"I'm hungry.""I can eat, too, to tell you the truth.""I'm thinking Lou Malnati's…See More

Round 2 - Day 27 and 28: $20 in gas money AND Another free album

Sorry for dropping the ball in my blog posts.  However, I KNOW that I have been giving gifts.  Like I stated, the gift-giving gets easier and easier as time goes on.  It's just being conscious about it that is difficult.  Yesterday was a gig with my other band, KAVUS.  I really thought that it wasn't very good at all.  However, Beth Ann, my friends, the host and the other musical guests all thought otherwise.  As Aly Jados stated (American Idol finalist/other weekly musical guest,)"The audience…See More

Round 2 - Day 26: Free album

My day started with the beautiful Beth Ann telling me that I should write Morning Pages.  Truth be told, today was the first day that I had written Morning Pages since last Tuesday.  Truth.  So, I dragged myself out of bed to do so because I know that she was right when I told her,"I haven't done them in a while.  So, I don't see the point...""All the more reason to do them.  C'mon, get up!"So, I did.  Ate breakfast and not to my liking took yet another cab to ensure that I get to work on time.…See More

Why I'm choosing to give:
I have been very discontent with everything for the past month or two. After talks with my g/f and my mentor, I realized (from past experience AND from advice as of late) that if I wanted change to occur, I'd have to change my actions. Along with Morning Pages (a la Julia Cameron,) I've taken up meditation and reading. One book that my g/f had on her bookshelf, "29 Gifts" spoke to me. I had to read it. Upon finishing the book (before then even,) I KNEW I had to start giving
What I'd most like to receive:
Joy, peace, serenity and a life beyond my wildest dreams.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
Through Cami's book "29 Gifts" :)
About me:
BIO UPDATED on December 21, 2011:
David Kav is no stranger to the world of music (and/or performing for that matter.) David has been playing the acoustic guitar since the age of 14. He has been singing for MUCH longer. We can blame the genes (since Mom was a piano player and a cellist in her early life and Dad was a guitarist/vocalist and musician as well.) We can blame the classic rock that David was inundated with (growing up on Journey's album "Infinity," Boston's Debut Album, Electric Light Orchestra's "Out Of The Blue" and the like.) However, more appropriately, it wasn't until he heard U2's Debut Album "Boy" at the age of 6 that music got him in a stranglehold:

"My aunt gave me a cassette tape of U2's album 'Boy.' She said, 'this is for you, David. I think you'll really like it.' I was just excited at the time to get something from my cool, rock 'n roll/punk aunt and thought, 'ok. New toy to play with. I'll play this on my tape recorder when I get home.' So, I did. Numerous times.

"It didn't hit me until one day, I was playing the tape while in my HUGE bedroom (which was more like a giant playground. Really cool.) I was playing some sort of game with my sister and the song "A Day Without Me" was playing through the tape player. All of a sudden, Bono goes into the a cappella portion of the song where he sings...

'Wipe that tear...from the get-go-a-ooooooooo-MNAH'

"It was that last part and the influctuation therein in that line that struck me. I looked at the recorder and heard the transposition of the song. I thought, deep down, 'wow....I wanna do THAT. I wanna be just like him.' Guilty (laughs.)"

Since that moment, David would ham it up and sing when he could. Fast forward to 2011: David has released two self-produced albums: "Look Into My Eyes" (about to be out-of-print. Limited copies still available,) and "Better You Here Than Alone." David has, since then, produced a Debut Album with his two-man band, KAVUS called "Nice To Meet You Again" courtesy of CAUDog Records (www.caudogrecords.com) and is set to release an EP containing recordings from the Legendary Sun Studios in Memphis in 2012.

David's latest project is with the eclectic classic/contemporary band, Classical Blast: "Classic rock with a classical twist." David was discovered by cellist Petar Kecenovici from a video on YouTube. After reading his extensive resume (Petar has played with Dennis DeYoung, Randy Jackson, George Benson, Jordin Sparks and Clay Aiken, as well as with groups Cheap Trick, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, il Divo and others,) David said, "I HAVE to do this!!!" David is ecstatic that he actually listened to his instincts to jump aboard the Classical Blast train.

All in all, 2012 is proving (already) to be an epic year with works in store from KAVUS, Classical Blast, and, of course, David Kav.

Round 3 - Day 12: Free lunch

Posted on April 11, 2012 at 4:48pm 3 Comments

Today had a start with a shower along with my weekly trip to the doctor's office.  It did go quite well. Progress being made.  I'll leave it at that.  ;)

I got a text from my good friend, Tom:  "Wanna do lunch today?"  I wanted to relax and do nothing at home.  However, I know that our schedules have been colliding quite badly (more mine these days.)  Therefore, I jumped at the opportunity and went to meet up with Tom.  I hadn't seen him since the Dallas wedding.  It was good…

Thanks, no I haven't read the book yet, I stumbled upon this site about a year or so ago, and now I am back so I can be active. I always freecycle and give freely, but I have several ideas to make wonderful gifts and share the loving gestures. Maybe we can make it a fun chicago treasure hunt : ) Have an awesome week new friend.

Wow! White Flowing Dress is an incredibly moving song. It just gives you goosebumps really! It's honestly always a pleasure for me to listen to your tunes and tell you my opinion because there is always more to them than just lyrics and a melody. Well done for your FAWM challenge, you really out did yourself.

Well, today I am going out for lunch with a very dear friend of mine so am definitely looking forward to that and last night it was a good movie, snuggled up in bed with some sushi (which I adore)! So it has been a great weekend so far. How about you?

And everything is really just a pleasure, I wild definitely know if I need anything. For now, just have a wonderful Sunday and thank you for being such an awesome friend over this site!

Take care of yourself! Warm hugs.
