Why I'm choosing to give:
Giving is a part of my personal philosophy - giving has been the support structure that has helped me through the toughest times in my life. It has given me reason to "feel good" at those times when I'd forgotten what 'good' felt like.
What I'd most like to receive:
inner peace, a greater sense of self worth, the knowledge that I've been a positive influence on my children and others around me!

In a more materialistic sense, I want my own home. My dream house even, with an ocean view, and no landlord. That's the "thing" I want most in this world.

About me:
Erin Monahan - 29 Gifts Community Manager
I'm mother to five amazing little people, wife to an incredible man, and a techy-nerd. I have spent 10 yrs teaching myself how to build websites and computer graphics; the Universe has spent a lifetime on teaching me how to use my talents in ways that benefit others. Through life's tragic events, I've learned enough to know that living a life of conscientious service is the only way to survive, and the most fulfilling way to thrive. That's why I feel so blessed to have discovered 29 Gifts, and to have been asked to take an active part in helping it grow!

Contact me for questions about how to use our website, if your company would like to sponsor a giveaway on our site or if you have a cause you'd like to nominate as one of our featured causes. I handle all of the day-to-day operations at 29Gifts, so I'm a good first stop for questions of almost any kind.

On a more personal note, I am a Traveler on a winding path, content in my journey, unconcerned with the destination. Spiritual, not religious. Quirky, but not quite odd. Named for the place I come from, and which I'll likely never see. Trying to change the world one little bit at a time...
I reside in Indian Trail NC, with lots of great kids, an amazing husband, a home based website development/implementation business, and visions of sugarplums dancing in my head.

Round... pfft... it's been so long, we're starting over. "Round ? day 1: the family that laughs together"

Today was a weird day.I worked 10 - 12 hours pretty much every day for the last 2 weeks. I was off yesterday, but "off" is a relative term and I spent it frantically trying to get caught up on 29 Gifts work and other projects. Today was the start of a new (much shorter and manageable) week at the restaurant, and my shift was only 3 hours long.

I spent all three of those hours feeling a little disoriented. It was too easy, too short, weird, lol. We waitresses joke with each other that sometimes… Continue

Thursday, in a nut shell (in other words, my day as I see it inside this crazy head of mine!) - or *decidedly grateful*

Was up till 3am. Everyone overslept and missed their busses, so all my kids were home from school today. Woke up for a minute to a phone call - work, asking me to come in at 4 rather than 5. No problem. Went back to sleep for a little while longer. Got up and realized my cable/internet & phone were disconnected. Freaked out a bit, used the cell to call & pay $200 to Time Warner with the debit card. Did so hoping that things go through at the bank in the right order or I'm screwed. Figure… Continue

Today's Gift: Scratching a dog's butt

LOL, I have been on the receiving end of a huge gift today (a talk with someone that I have been very worried about) that has put me in such a wonderful silly mood...

So today my gift is to my big goofy pit bull. She, of the 4 dogs presently living at my house, is and always will be, my absolute favorite fur baby. She has this crazy quirky tail, it was bobbed and bent at birth, and the side effect of wagging it is that, well, pretty much all of her wags. She also has an insane adoration of a go… Continue

The good, the bad, and the ugly (ok, I left out the ugly LOL)

So it's the holidays. I've been on quite a holiday cheer buzz - which is actually unusual for me.

We've always struggled at the holidays because we had a houseful of kids and a fairly empty wallet, lol. I have almost always been too stressed out and grumpy at Christmas to actually like the season. I mean don't get me wrong, I always loved Christmas morning with the wrapping paper flying and their little eyes sparkiling, but the season itself has always been hard for me to really enjoy.… Continue

struggling with being grateful and generous today...

Today, I will receive 4 house guests, my in-laws. They will be here for several days. They live nearly 900 miles away so we rarely get to see them - it's been over 3 years since we last visited them in NY. This is the first time they have ever come to visit us (well, second, but the 1st was 15 years ago, and only for one night), and we're absurdly excited! On the other hand, my mother in law, whom I barely know despite 17 years with Scott, will be in my home 24/7 for the next 6 days, and I'm a l… Continue

So now I understand that you have to connect with Paypal first and pay them to get credits to give gifts. But where or to whom does the money go?? Is this fundraising money? And the gifts we send people on this site are just virtual? So I don't understand about the money! Sorry, I'm just not getting it.......Eileen
