Adopt A Family for Christmas

We decided to adopt a family for Christmas this year (actually the 3rd or 4th year). My job is find some things that the mom (of 8!) needs. What she really wants is a new coat and some pajamas - I had a great time trying to find just the right things in her favorite color; didn't end up with the coat today but found great pjs. I'm hoping for some killer "black Friday" sales so I can get the best coat possible for the money that I have to spend.

Day One - it feels good already

I've always felt like I was a giving and caring person, but lately I've been so focused on my own concerns that I don't feel engaged with others. Today, I put together a box of clothes and shoes to take to donation tomorrow. I also joined my book group in adopting a less fortunate family for the holidays and have gathered up my coupons to go shopping to make their Christmas more special. And, for my son who has been difficult, I put together an outline of where he stands on all of his college ap… Continue

Thank you...I would like to feel the gift of giving. The spiritual center I go to started this 10 days ago. Today I gave the gift of a compliment. I never thought I had anything to give. I am trying to change my thought process.

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.

All of us have days where we have to push ourselves to do something we know is good for us, but we don't have the energy to do it. I know I do, and as you did, I feel better afterwards. Keep pushing Carla.
