Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
There's something somewhere inside that keeps compelling me to get further outside of myself and bring more happiness and less suffering to the people who I encounter.
What I'd most like to receive:
A Porsche. No, I'm kidding, but honestly, respect and love.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
I read about it in a magazine article.
About me:
I am an eager student, but I wish I could figure out what I want to do with my life so I could start working towards making a difference in that field.

I hate being stagnant.

Individuality is the biggest turn-on.

No matter your political position, sexual orientation, passion in life, religious affiliation, and any other terms of classification you can think of, I like you until you try and tell me how to live my life.

Building off the last point, I am a vehement supporter of absolute personal liberty, meaning I believe you should be able to do whatever you want with your body and your life as long as you are not DIRECTLY causing another self-aware creature any harm. This personal freedom does not extend to material belongings, economics, etc.

I wish I could help (educate? I don't know) two types of people: Those who are willingly ignorant (as in religious folk who won't search for information if it could possibly go against their beliefs), and extremely judgmental people (as in people who hate homosexuals because they're different or whatever the justification is today).

My bad side is selfish, violent, uncomfortable in overly emotional situations like confrontations, exaggerating, narcissistic, and emotionally high maintenance.

My good side is excessively benevolent, socially perceptive (to a painful extent), excited for experience, eager to please, clearly communicative, and fast to compromise.

I'm afraid of spiders, clowns, change, and dying.

I'm not afraid of any intellectual challenge, the woods at night, or being myself.

I believe in: science, philosophy, environmentalism, helping others, my friends, searching for the hard answers, and benevolence.

I don't believe in: god, astrology, money, "isms" (like feminism, racism, nationalism, speciesism, utilitarianism etc), or deriving morals from majoritarian-based judgments.

I love being happy, I love being healthy, and I love being alive :) :)

Day One!

Although I first contemplated starting this program a few weeks ago, today is the first day that I'm going to begin keeping track of what I'm doing. I have to write it down or I'll forget; a bit absent-minded here.

I'm in law school, and today I have to give my first oral argument. The event is extremely stressful, mostly due to my absent-minded-ness and the public speaking part. . .

Today, I'm think my gift is going to be something related to my fellow-students' who are scheduled to present t… Continue

I've been away from blogging but not giving. Still it is helpful to blog every day. On Saturday, my husband and I went out to breakfast with my son Shea's hockey team and I gave the waitress a double tip. On Sunday I made batches of caramel corn to…

Thanks for all your comments! This is the first time I've gone quite so public with my story. I've always imagined myself helping others through sharing my life's journey in some way. But I always found an excuse why I couldn't or shouldn't. So I've…

I have received a few gifts, tea, coffee and a co-worker bought me a cool ornament for my house. I have given quite a few out of the blue compliments. Offered to help with a few different things. I am hoping to give more and more!
