Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
I was inspired after reading 29-Gifts and your struggles and ability to overcome many of the issues you faced with MS. I was most inspired by the way your thinking and attitudes shifted as your gift giving energy grew. I am a negative thinker and while I have been working on this for several years, I still am not thinking as positive as I would like. I believe because of my negative thinking patterns, I am consumed with worry-about money, career, love life etc....I am hoping that this giving excercise will assist me in shifting my thinking to positive outcomes.
What I'd most like to receive:
a million dollars or maybe a job that I love and can do with passion.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
customer at Borders was purchasing multiple copies as gifts and we began a discussion while in line. I expressed interest in buying a copy-she told me that she had taken the last copies. A salesperson overheard our discussion and she found another copy of your book in a different location of Borders.
About me:
I am a wife and mother. I am a caretaker of elderly parents, both disabled. I work full time. I give all the time to my family. I have nothing left for myself. I give to my mother and father, but it is out of a sense of obligation/guilt. I give to my husband, but again it is out of a sense of obligation and I give to my darling daughter who is the light of my life. I am stressed out and exhausted all the time from all of the people that are constantly taking from me. I am forty one years old, but I feel as though I am 60! I need to make positive changes in my life and set better boundaries. I need to learn how to graciously accept gifts into my life. I do not like to accept-because I am the giver in all of my relationships.

oh ... I think you've found a place you need to be, this site.
You are giving so much, surely setting an example for your daughter; but don't forget you want to teach your daughter to take care of herself too, not just others ... be sure to give to yourself as part of your challenge and remember that all that you are already giving really "counts."

Here's the welcome message:
Welcome to 29 Gifts! I'm so glad you decided to join us.

Enjoy your 29 Days and don't forget to share some stories to help inspire others. If you need help posting in your Personal Giving Blog, follow these directions.

Help Us Grow: Please help spread the word. We're striving to reach our goal of 29,000 committed givers, and you can help: Send this Invitation to friends, write about the challenge and include a badge or our video on your website, blog, facebook, or myspace page.

The book 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life - authored by 29 Gifts founder Cami Walker is now in stores. You can also buy through Amazon.

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
