Volunteering is always a wonderful give.
Day 18
Today I volunteered for four hours with the local Habitat for Humanity Office. I will continue this every Monday until my work schedule fills out. It is a great cause, with nice people and uses skills that I already have.

Today I worked at a community with adults with disabilities. I taught my friend Jake how to create a facebook profile and how to find friends from my friends list. He already had 8 friends when i left today. I hope this gives him hours of pleasure and contact with many old friends, as it does for me.

I seem to not be able/willing to post every day. The thoughtfulness around giving is with me every day however. This past weekend I hosted a woman, A., close to my age, from couchsurfing. She lives in a community about 30 miles away and wanted a weekend away to sort out her future and get some prespective on the community, from a little distance. I don't feel like I've come up with big enough Gives for the last 2 days, but here are my little ones, that I sort of feel that I might have done anyway. I feel like a nicer person with this challenge and that seems to be a gift both to myself and to everyone around me. I offered to my son to come get him from a friend's tonight; up til 11:30. Couchsurfing isn't for everyone, but I have met some great people and enjoyed it. Today I picked up A. from downtown Cville and brought her to spend a few days at my place. Never met her before but she wrote to see if she could stay for the weekend and I have the space and enjoy the company. My son is out of town so I could even offer a real bed and not just the couch. So, my gift has brought me a new friend and someone to eat meals with. I also gave her some yarn that I didn't know what to do… Continue
