Day 7 - Pins and Needles

Things are shifting, there's no doubt about it. Today I stopped into the lab for a routine test and they asked about my kids. I mentioned that my daughter had her little Christmas pageant tonight and out came a $10 off coupon for Macy's, right into my hand! I spent a few extra minutes having a laugh and just being present and not in a rush (because Macy's isn't always there at the mall so I usually need to rush these things.)I then had a meeting with the priest of our episcopal church. The Lyme…See More

Day 6 - Cow Dung Muffins

Another thwarted gift attempt! I had a meeting at 5 so I decided to make some muffins for everyone. They can be a tough group so an injection of kindness and nurturing would be a good thing. The muffins contained Earl Grey tea, which I thought sounded wonderful but the batter came out like pancake batter, very runny. The finished muffins were no better; they looked more like little piles of cow dung (with the tea leaves resembling flies - nice, huh?) It did, however, prove to be a nice time…See More

Day 5 - The thwarted giver

Posted on December 14, 2009 at 6:30am 2 Comments

Now, I'm writing this a day later, so it may be cheating to say that I think this might be working but I feel great today. My spirit is really lifting. I'm also reading Normal Vincent Peale which is helping me a lot. So, yesterday:

I had my husband's ATM card (don't ask why - don't ask about how I became a drug addict from an undiagnosed broken pelvis, got sent to rehab for three months and totally ruined us financially a couple of years ago. Talk about the gift that keeps on… Continue

Day 4

Posted on December 13, 2009 at 7:14am 4 Comments

The bad week continues but I'm trying to stay positive. I took a friend for coffee, and I did it with mindfulness and was glad that I'd reached out.

I was also reminded that a woman with Multiple Sclerosis was laid off from my son's preschool. We had talked about knitting and crocheting and I offered to teach her, but I never followed up. That's something to do, definitely. Goal for today.
