Hi Shana, I once heard of older people even vunerable people going through situations where they may not feel most empowered such as in medical situations, legal situations having an advocate present it balances the power. I myself attend meetings…

What a perfect gift for somebody that has such a positive influence on your life. Every time she picks up that book, she will continue to receive gifts over and over.

Day 3 - Letting Go of Pride!

It was Saturday morning and I decided the focus that day was to give with gratitude. Not sure what that would look like but I remained open. In the early evening I went to a new book group and carried a dose of trepidation with me. I had not read the book, yet was very interested and somewhat informed on the topic. But more to the point I was trying something new again which feels a bit uncomfortable. After the group ended two woman invited me to go to dinner with them. I happily agreed,…See More

Profile Information

Why I'm choosing to give:
i want to let go of keeping my life small by consciously taking another step into my highest self.
What I'd most like to receive:
a deep sense of knowing that i am not alone - that we truly are all connected.
How did you hear about the 29-Day Giving Challenge?
i happened to see cami's interview on the today show which, by the way, i never watch! as is said, when the student is ready the teacher will come.
About me:
well, i am an artist that does black & white film photography. i am close to launching my website so i can share my work in a much bigger way. getting to this point has taken me a very loooong time as i am simultaneously managing a chronic illness. good thing i am passionate, persistent and resourceful! being single is over-rated (ha!) & i would love to meet a soulmate. i look forward to this 29gifts journey...

Day 6 - Smiling eyes...

Posted on December 4, 2009 at 3:00pm 0 Comments

I woke up today wondering how the day will unfold & just how giving will weave into things. Funny, maybe the word 'weave', set the tone without me realizing it. I went to the post office and as a man held the door for me I looked into his eyes, smiled and thanked him for his kindness. (He stood there holding the door while waiting for me to climb the stairs). Then it occurred to me, What if i look into every person's eyes I passed by today and at the very least smiled at them? Or perhaps… Continue

Day 5 - Rumi...

I have an incredible yoga teacher. She is much more than a yoga teacher. You know those kind of people that you just feel safer in the world because they exist? Well, that's her. She embodies love, self-care and wisdom. And she is oh, so generous. I was in the book store the other day and came across a pocket sized compilation of Rumi's writings. I knew immediately that I was going to give it to her as my gift that day. (11.30)

Day 4 - Dusting off the files...

Posted on November 29, 2009 at 8:00am 2 Comments

I have an elderly neighbor/friend who I try and help out whenever I am able. I often give her rides or pick up her veggies from the CSA. Well, over Thanksgiving weekend she fell - again - and broke her shoulder. Of course, this renders her unable to take care of her daily needs. Time to pull out the big guns by dusting off the files I have gathered through the years. Having gone through a major illness myself I was aware of many community recources. I told her I would start calling around to… Continue
