Day 24

Nearing the end of this 29 day commitment but not the end of the journey. What I have come to realize is that with conscious practice, the art of giving becomes a natural state of thinking. Our heart grows, Our mind is more creative in giving .Our expectations of a return on our investment no longer exist. We recognize and honor how precious our relationships with all of humanity are. We can see there is an oppurtunity to give in every situation we confront. With practice, it will become our…See More

Day 10

Initiating this project I had heard things about the best gifts being those without cost or exchange of material items. I don't know that I truly believed this however. But over the last ten days I have experimented. Last Sunday I gave the gift of time to a friend who needed a listening ear. On Monday I shared baked goods with all my work companions. Tuesday, I gave compassion to a local family going through a rough time by sharing dinner , some food and several gift cards to be used as…See More

day 2

Since there was snow, I decided to stay in , stay warm, and reside by my homefire. But, I thought perhaps my gift might be something I could accomplish even from that place. There was someone who meant a great deal to me as a friend, For whatever reason the relationship became strained and the contacts with each other fewer. It is hard for me to reach out to another when I fear rejection, but I took that chance. We had a wonderful hour long phone call and made plans to enjoy lunch together. I…See More

Day one

Thought I'd start this one small. I focused on giving a warm greeting and genuine compliment to whoever crossed my path today, from the lady at McD's drive through to all my co-workers and patients. In return I got warm smiles, several hugs, a chance to dance for the fun of it,and a day more pleasant .in so many respects. I wished to gift others but reaped many rewards myself.
