Humble pie – serving for 1

Well I’m sick. Not minor cold sick, but seriously feeling horrible. My body aches so much I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. Frankly, this sucks. I very rarely get sick and I’m just plain mad something had come long and knocked me down for the count. Sure, I’ll be fine in a few days, but right now I’m rather annoyed. Hard to feel like giving when you are wallowing in self pity. The week started out so well.Day 10 – give to coworker of finishing special project for her.Day 11 – first gift to…See More

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

Today, a gift came back to me and it was awesome. I'm so happy because my husband decided just out of the blue to help with housework and vacuumed the entire downstairs. I know, it may not seem like much to some but to me it meant a great deal.I almost spoiled his efforts when I started to get critical of his process, but I'm happy to say I was able to step back and just busy myself with a different task. At the end of his efforts he did an outstanding job and I made sure I let him know how…See More

Letting go and learning to share

The paradigm shift has begun… sometimes it is can be okay to not have a planWoke up on day 5 with no plan for giving and stumbled into an opportunity to do a menial task for someone who usually gets stuck with the annoying stuff at the office. Later, I noticed opportunity to e-mail thank you note to troops on the 29Gifts website. Both gifts were very simple, took little time, but truly from the heart.Day 6 and I’m working from home. I will likely have no human contact and become unsure about…See More

Listening to someone who needs to feel included and requires special attention can sometimes be a BIG task, so congrats on looking at the situation in a new light and using it as an opportunity to give!

"I never did mind about the little things" - Days 3 & 4 big lesson

Posted on December 1, 2009 at 1:31pm 2 Comments

Yesterday was day 3 and I knew shortly after I got to work what my gift will be. A co-worker enjoys talking and often I don’t have time to listen, but today I will make the time. This is a person who needs to feel included and needs extra attention. Some days this is frustrating behavior, but this is a new day on a new week and there is no reason I cannot be the listener today. I consider myself very self reliant and I’m seeing that I cannot hold others to my standards of self care. Not because… Continue

Help Us Grow: Please help spread the word. We're striving to reach our goal of 29,000 committed givers, & you can help: Send this Invitation to friends, write about the challenge & include a badge or our video on your website, blog, facebook, or myspace page.

The book 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life - authored by 29 Gifts founder Cami Walker is now in stores. You can also buy through Amazon.

Support our Cause of the Month
In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched & impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s & then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give & her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month & would be grateful for your support!

Happy giving!

P.S. Don't miss our handy 29-Day Giving Calendar or our cute Gift Note to accompany your gifts.
