This evening we went to see a Louisiana band here in Taos, NM. You'd probably be surprised at all the Louisiana bands that come here, but Taos is a major ski area, so it's also a tourist town.....and we have a LOT more live band entertainment than most li'l old towns would. It was so much fun, and we had just watched the Saints' victory parade on CNN, so we were all fired up over that again too.
I purposely took along a big bunch of Mardi Gr

My 29 gifts book came in the mail today. How great is that? I read it all today (but of course that means I can now reread it and that's even more fun.) I also now see what the pattern of the ritual is about and that's quite helpful. I even got to see how some of Cami's journey shows me some things to pursue as I deal with deteriorating health related to disabling conditions plus a tendency to push push push too hard in order to feel "good enough" to be - in life, work, and relationships.

I should have given my nurse practitioner a gift. Instead she gave me one. 22 items on my Lipid and Metabolic panels and all of them in the good range. I felt like I was on the Biggest Loser as she told me my health age was probably five years younger than my actual age.
As far as me giving a gift, it was a tough day. Some days I think negatively for no apparent reason. I think the guy speeding is going to cut me off, when there's no real reason to think it.

Ok, back to the no sleep issue, bigtime.
After I posted last night's blog entry, I took a warm bath, lit some candles and relaxed. This was after our phone call with Stephanie which went really well. I then decided to pull out a book I have read before. It's by one of my favorite authors Marianne Williamson. "Illuminata" is a book of prayers. I read a few random pages, tried to go to sleep and burst into tears. I cried like a baby for a long time. I guess it needed to come out,

A community based workforce organization hired a marketing company to hold focus groups about how they might better serve their customers and community. Now any one who has ever been a part of a focus group knows it is not always stimulating! However, the workforce group has in fact been helpful to my business. One employee in particular has gone above and beyond. Although I would rather have had a dentist appointment, I went. It was the right thing to do. It wasn't all that bad and I was abl

Today, I received a gift that was so awesome I can hardly keep to myself. My neighbor cooked my roommate and I an absolutely amazing pasta dinner. Alfredo sauce and with broccoli and beans (My roommate was vegetarian, doggonit.) And a side of garlic bread. How awesome is that! It was all for letting him borrow my shovel (and he even shoveled some of our driveway for us one snowstorm ago). It was absolutely wonderf

One of the lessons I think is key from the book is the idea that the gifts don't have to be huge. Small gifts can work too. I was very tired today, and didn't have time/energy to plan or come up with a gift that required much effort or thought. It still worked out great. Someone happened to bring me a gift of some really delicious oranges. A student from a sweaty yoga class before mine looked like he would love a piece of fresh fruit. It was a natural give to offer him an orange. He loved it,
