I have so much to do and so many places to go each day. But, my car thought something different. Last night while driving the 20plus miles home from my son's soccer practice, my car battery light came on. After taking a look and even purchasing a new car battery, the light was still on. I was going to have breakfast with three of my very dear friends, but instead, I had to take my car into the shop and we hope that our light mystery will be solved or at least, explained. So here I am…

March 28 and March 29, 2011
We survived our massive jamming session on Saturday! It took us 9 people and 10 hours but we cut up 84 pineapples and made over 240 little jars of jam. But, Lisa's grandmother's recipe said that one pineapple would yield 3 jars, but it was more like 6!!!!! We had so much pineapple left over that it was ridiculous!!! What to do? What to do?
March 28's gift: I made Pineapple Coconut Creme Cake and brought it for my Period 1 and…

March 25, 2011: I have never heard of this product before, but as we are going to attempt to make over 200 + jars of pineapple jam today, I had to find out. My best friend Lisa is getting married in two months and she really wants to make jam from her grandmother's recipe as the favors!!! We are going to be processing 84 fresh pineapples! Yikes! Everyone who is going to help are jamming virgins!!! Lisa's sister Laurie purchased the Certo from the commissary, however, she bought only half the…

Gift: Saturday was the day that 9 months of working, planning, and pushing came to fruition. It is a very complex and involved project, but if people followed the schedule, it is totally doable with stress. But, as teenagers will be teenagers, it was procrastination city!!!! The Executive Board and I are so proud of the small group of students who were willing to take the last step on this journey! Each project had to impact the community in some way be it: Working on the Freshman 15,…

She made these awesome tic-tac holders emblozed with the Steelers logo and traditional black and gold of the team!!!! Lisa and Kimo LOVE this…

I've lost count Gift!: Yesterday, my 1st day of Spring Break vacation, I go with Ryan and his class on a fieldtrip. We went to Waimanalo Bay Beach Recreation Area. I had to drive all over to find it, but we had a blast! While waiting for more people to arrive, I notice that there are homeless people there. Tents and people just walking around. A couple in a white car parked and they use the showers. She is dressed for work, but their car cannot start!!! She aproaches me and my friends and…

I am so lucky to have the friends that I have. They are each so unique and powerful and intelligent, but most of all, they are generous, thoughtful, and kind. Even after the prom fervor died down, I now have Senior Projects to worry about. Saturday is the culmination of 9 months of work with a public panel driven presentation and Question and Answer session for each of our honor candidates. The projects are so different, but they must impact the community in some way. I will be writing…

Gift #25: I have many friends. Many of them from kindergarten and up. I love Facebook because it helps me stay in touch with more people than I could otherwise. I was able to see two friends yesterday and spend time with a fairly new one. My boy BFF is Wil and he works for the Electric Company which is currently on strike. He's not since he's in Management. But, he called me out of the blue and said that he was right across the street from my school. He popped by and spent about 10…

Gift #24: Today is a rare day that Ryan doesn't have a practice of any kind. In fact, he's off of soccer for a month before futsol practice begins. He had been asking to go to the movies, but it's sooooo expensive, but he's a very good boy and so I took him to the movies, just the two of us. I wanted to watch 'Gnomeo and Juliet' which my 9th grade team took students to see in conjunction with their unit on 'Romeo and Juliet'. They loved it! I thought Ryan would too, but all it took was him…

Gift 21:My husband is a perfectionist in everything he does. His new position as State Science Specialist is more than just about science. He's responsible for so many other administrative things like contracts, policies, and memos. He is constantly receiving "assignments" which must be answered in a timely manner and some of them show up in the morning and are expected to be completed all in the same day! It's very stressful and crazy! Today I used my gifts to help him prepare for a training…

Gift #23:Today is my 43rd birthday and it's great. After all the stress from the prom (don't worry, I'll be writing about that this week), it was great to celebrate my birthday today. I was so lucky to receive so many well wishes at school and via facebook. It was especially great to receive a message from my former student Gerald who said that I made such an impact on his life! I just had to reply to him. I was also lucky to see one of my best friends who came to visit and work on her…

Gift #20:Many of us have problems with a woman that works in our front office. She is in control of all our accounts and is a stickler for rules, policies, etc. Most of us cringe when we deposit money or write out purchase orders, but she showed me that she can have another side. She's spent the past two days working with me and our hundreds of checks for the prom making sure that we balance out. She spent hours with me while working on all our p.o.'s and is making sure that a particular MIA VP…

Gift 16: Life is so busy. We are constantly jumping for one appointment or activity to the next. It's nice to just take a breath and enjoy the moment. I was lucky this weekend to spend some individual time with each of my two sons. I was able to play Abalone with Ryan and I was able to sit and watch a movie on the t.v. at the airport while Ethan's flight to Kona was delayed. Each of my boys are so different, yet, each have a need to know that they are loved and they are special just for…

Gift 17: I'm the Senior Prom Advisor. I was the Junior Prom advisor last year. I work with the Class of 2011. Our theme for this prom is "Forever Yours" and is a 1940's era theme. My committee of girls and one boy have spent months working on this event for Saturday March 5th and on Friday, our collective hearts dropped. My Principal has decided that being $3,000 under budget isn't good enough. He wants us to be $5,000 under budget since we wants to use the surplus to help pay the $10,000…

Gift 18: my husband Derrick is the Hawaii State Science Specialist. It is a very stressful and crazy job, especially if you have no idea how to do the procedures, laws, etc. etc. He's basically flying by the seat of his pants and this is very difficult for someone like him. He is very logical. He is very focused and does one task at a time. As women, we know that we aren't made that way. We are multi-taskers. Things that are child's play for us is very much like the chinese acrobat…

Gift #13: I had some opportunities to give yesterday, but something always came up so I couldn't. But, I was able to spend some time helping my husband in various ways. I was able to help him with registering for a Science Conference coming up and just being there when he was looking at the multitude of sessions to choose from. I was able to pick Ryan up from school so that he didn't have to. We went to his office and was able to spend time with him there. I was also able to massage his…

Gift #14: One of my best friends is also named Lisa Ann. She's going to be getting married on Labor Day weekend in a couple of months. She's wonderful!!! She's also been extremely stressed with going back to school full-time to finally get her bachelor's degree! She has so many classes and is very busy! Let's not even add on the time she needs to plan her wedding! Being the Matron of Honor, I'm trying to spend as much time with her as I can around my own crazy schedule. She's been wanting…

Gift #12: My son Ryan is constantly growing. He is over 4 feet and is only 6 years old. His doctor says that he is supposed to end up at 6'0" or 6'1". Of course this excites his two 5'3" parents immensely. He is going to play basketball hopefully at the high school and college level! He goes through shoes like nobody's business. We gathered his outgrown shoes (6 pairs in all) and I brought them to school. I went online and emailed everyone asking if someone could use these shoes and…

Gift #11: Today Rieko and I did our presentation for our Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. We were so excited and a little sad as today was President's Day and we have a huge (over 25,000 people) Great Aloha Run which raises money for various charities in Hawaii. This prevented some of our Iota sisters from coming to our meeting. We had great food, fun, and fellowship even if our numbers were on the small side. We each were fully engaged in our activity where we each constructed and…

Gift 10: Yesterday Ryan had TWO soccer matches; one at 8 am and the other at 1 pm. It was a tournament and the boys were just so tired, but they played their hearts out, especially when they are the youngest and have to play 8 year olds all the time. Right after the afternoon match, off we went to Kamehameha schools for Ryan's basketball clinic. He practices with the "middle group" of kids who are about three years older than he is. He dribbled. He did ladder drills. He shot. Afterwards,…
