29-Day Giving Challenge

Usually I wait until the day after to make my posts, but I had a 'good' give today, and there isn't much time left before bed.

I gave myself...well, not even sure what word to use....forgiveness? Patience? Basically something happened to get my a bit upset with my wife. Usually I might fume about it, but I made the concious decision that I'd give myself...something 'Peace of mind'? And just let things go. I was much better for it, and again it is a reaction I don't think I'd have thought of if I wasn't thinking so much about giving and this challenge.

Then I gave my wife an 'I love you' text message, which made us both feel quite nice.

Now that is a give that makes a huge impact-- on you and your family and those around you! Choosing peace followed by remembering love... awesome. It'll make all your relationships better. You're a great husband. :)

I can see this ... a give to the other as well as a give to yourself ...
I had a similar give one day with one of my daycare families, where instead of getting angry I was able to get myself to laugh about it; was much better for me and them, and I too credit this challenge to that reaction

This was a great give. You apparently feel better since you gave yourself that peace of mind. I love that you followed it up with a special text. A very nice day and gives today.

This is a wonderful give to you both! I could use some practice on this. You've inspired me to be more conscious of when I can give forgiveness and peace of mind. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

Well, it wasn't nearly as serious as something that costs hundreds of dollars, more an emotional frustration, and my wife actually apologized about things later, but my normal reaction would be to brood about it for quite a while, and eventually let go. The give was intended as one to myself, in case I didn't make it sound that way. By not brooding I was giving myself a gift by not taking that time to stew over something that didn't really matter.

Paul this is a HUGE gift. One that I need to remember. Just letting something go that would normally send me in a tizzy, and then following it up with an 'I Love You'. Taking notes!

So great!! Yay for you. Once my husband thru all my dry cleaning clothes away -- hundreds of dollars and I made the same choice as you!

Maybe you are expecting too much too soon? I know that giving without any expectations of something in return isn't easy, but I'll bet if you try to just give (and even small gives are good ones, y'know) without expecting anything in return, you'll…

My 29 gifts book came in the mail today. How great is that? I read it all today (but of course that means I can now reread it and that's even more fun.) I also now see what the pattern of the ritual is about and that's quite helpful. I even got to s…
