Day 13 -- Donation
Today I gave with empathy.
Today was the Hope for Haiti telecast -an amazing example of so many people giving of their time and resources! My gift today was to donate more money to Haiti. In church on Sunday our Reverend, Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith, said that one person had asked him after service, "how can we minister to the Haitians so that they'll be more open to their prosperity and will do better?" Reverend Michael replied that "We do not need to minister to the Haitians. They are ministering to us. Through this situation they have opened the hearts of so many. They have shown us that we do have much to give, and they have helped us shift out of our 'recession mentality' into a mentality of charity, faith and good will." His words touched my heart. It also underscored for me how this 29 Gifts is doing the same thing for me as well.
Day 14 -- Bottle of Wine
Today I gave in celebration.
Today was my friend Nico's birthday. I went to his party and gifted him with a bottle of South African wine.
Day 15 - Donation Basket and Another Birthday Gift
Today I gave in faith
Today I attended the aforementioned church service. When the donation basket I gave $20 -- everything in my wallet. Later that day we attended my friend's son's 1st birthday party. We gifted him with a puzzle, book, and memory book.
Day 16 -- Job Referral
Today I gave in friendship.
My gift today was to refer a job to a friend. I was called today about a potential legal job. I did not feel like it was a good fit for me, but I thought it would be a very good fit for a recently unemployed friend. I got her resume and forwarded her information to the potential client. I brag that this was a gift to my friend seeking unemployment as well as to the client who will hopefully hire her (she's an amazing attorney).
