My parents have returned from England and wanted to meet me and my fiance for lunch.
It was good to see that they're okay, everything went well in Liverpool. They told us lots of stories and we had a really good time. And they brought me some gifts: 3 tops, all in my favourite colour purple ^^
I told my family about some thoughts and plans for my future, and their answer was great: they will support me, whatever I'll do. Some of you might think: well, isn't that normal? Parents should support their kids! But my family went through hard times, my mum and I for example had to fight and change to have this "mother-daughter-relationship".
After lunch my boyfriend and I bought some books (we both loooove reading) and then we had to buy new fresh hay for our guinea pigs. We took the great hay bag - luckily my fiance is quite tall, because this bag is huge, nearly as high as one of my best friends ^^ We had no car, so we got home by bus - with this giant hay sack ;-) And I bought my guinea pigs some stuff I knew they would like it - one of my gifts for that day. I know, some people may think, guinea pigs are for little kids, they are boring, you can't do anything with them. But that's not true! Each one of my 3 has a different character, it's great watching them, they do show a lot of emotions. And when I'm down, one of them is my "shrink", he makes me feeling better again. So I wanted them to get something special too.
At home I started to get my stuff for an application at an university together (one of my plans: going back to a college of higher education, but I have to pass some acceptance tests, we'll see - that's just one plan).
My mum called me because she received to mails she didn't know what to do with. One of them is written on english, so I had to translate it. First she tried to read to me, but her pronunciation was totally wrong, could have been every language :-) So I asked her to sent me this email. It took me some time to explain her, whats going on (it was something about her homepage) - she has no clue about IT, internet, homepages and so on, so this was hard work!
The second email was a note of one of her friends, but when she tried to answer it, she got a failure email. Took me some time to find out why.
After years of explaining my parents the difference between an email-adress and a www-addy, they still don't know what I'm talking about. They try to send an email to a web-adress and wonder why this doesn't work ^^ Sounds funny, but when you have this conversation twice a month, you have a hard time staying cool and calm. I started writing down everything I do on their pc and everything I tell them - just to find out that they've thrown these pieces of paper away or lost them. So everytime it's like starting at the beginning. I've even installed programms on my pc I never use just to explain everything step by step ;-)
I also found some time to rack my brain again. There's a riddle-page on the web with really hard riddles. Most of the time it starts with a rebus, then you get some cryptic hints and when you lucky you find the right answer to get to the next level. A little example:
"GENAFFVO" and a red "13" - that's what you start with. You ask "aunt wiki" (Wikipedia" about that and when you're lucky you find out that "red 13" is a ciphering-code. You use this one with the word you see and that brings you to the transsib railroad. Next hint: VVIVV - must be roman numbers, so you go through the wikipedia-page to find this number. This brings you to another page, where you use the next hint "destination" and so on. In the end you've to find something in Peking ^^
Some of the riddles are easier, somethimes they take hours. But they're funny and you learn something while trying to solve them. I'm the only one in my circle of friends who does that, so I have no one to talk about it and to help me when I'm stuck somewhere. My fiance doesn't like them, he thinks they are "crazy". But once there was something Star Treck and Klingones, he was a big help!
The german part comes later, I have to meet my stepfather for something important.
