Days 1 & 2 giving opportunities presented themselves before I even had a conscious thought about what to give and to whom. I LOVE it!
1 - Visiting with my friend Deb. Her hubby called to say he was picking up Chinese food for them on his way home from work. A short while later he called again, frustrated & upset because his debit card was declined - account empty. Neither of them had any money on hand. I asked Deb to see if they'd accept a credit card over the phone. My on-hand in-account balance was about the same as theirs, however, I had a credit card! Problem solved - they were eating Chinese!
Deb thanked me, said she'd pay me back the next day. I declined. Thank you, but, no, I told her. You're doing me a favor by letting me do this for you. In truth, giving is receiving, so please, let me thank you.
She called after they ate, thanking me again, for which I had to point out my gratitude to them for allowing me to do it.
2 - Gave one of my comfy chairs to a friend who does respite care for me.
Have to say, while the chair had a significantly greater monetary value, buying dinner for Deb and her hubby feels more valuable to me. Reminds me of a line from Robots - See a need, fill a need.
I LOVE this life!
