29-Day Giving Challenge

I was reading in the book about scarcity. I realized that for me it is easy to give money, my husband might say too easy :-) but the thing in my life that is the most scarce is time. As a mom who works away from home, I feel like I hold on to it for dear life - but my plan is to try to give more of my time.

Day 18 - An opportunity presented itself but not in the way I had expected. At work, employees that have exhausted their sick leave through a lengthy illness, etc. may request donated leave. I don't have an abundance of leave and don't have to worry about losing any at the end of the year - so I normally ignore these requests. Today I thought about what if it was me or my family. I did not know this person but I donated 4 hours to her.

Day 17 - I don't think I blogged anything for yesterday. I again gave of my time I guess. I attended my weight loss meeting even though I could have went home. I gave away compliments and hopefully inspiration to the newcomers.

Jane,

Thank you for your comment. I read your blog on time and was very touched by your gift of "leave." As a working mom I can certainly understand what an amazing gift time is.

donating sick leave was great! that's one less worry for someone coping with an illness, whether their own or a family member's. it's neat that you took the time to figure out what was "scarce" for you and made the effort to give it. Hugs, Dawn
