Day 12: I had a hard time thinking of what I had done for anyone else today. That's because I did a lot for myself. I started early going to my usual cafe and chatting to Joseph who owns it. I spent time looking out at the street and the beautiful morning light. I remembered to feel appreciative of my very privileged life. Only a very small percentage of people in this world live in a clean, safe place where you can inexpensively do great things.
Then I went off to the briefing and fitness test for a bootcamp program which starts on Monday. 5 days a week for 5 weeks. I am going to be soooo fit!. Another blessing - because I am a member of the Kung Fu school that is running this, I get it at 1/2 price. $150 covers the whole 5 weeks.
It was a great session with really nice people and a very experienced trainer, Maurice. I think he would normally make a lot more money from this sort of thing.
After that I went to buy a heart rate monitor and later some new running shoes. Very exciting and again I feel lucky that now I can afford those things when a couple of years ago that would have been out of the question.
I've been spending the day chatting to people I like, eating nice food, feeding the parrots that visit my balcony and give me much joy. Then I remembered I need to post here. What did I do for anyone else today?
Finally it came to me. I did send a very encouraging text message to a friend this morning. He lives overseas and is having a hard time. Phew! I made it.
cheers
Pauline

It sounds like you had a lovely day. In addition to the caring email, you gave many gifts of joy and appreciation throughout your day. And giving the gift of health and joy is a gift that will benefit not only yourself but all those around you.
Comment by Harriet on January 12, 2013 at 7:25am It is a give to yourself that you are taking care of your physical body! Hurrah!
Have fun at boot camp. You have had quite a journey and I am so happy to have you here to share it with us. Thank you, Pauline. You give to all you meet and to give to yourself is wonderful. I love that you did! xo
What a huge blessing that you are in the place you are, physically, mentally and emotionally...that is a HUGE GIFT in my book! It is also a gift to yourself, (which counts), that you are going to do something for yourself that is healthy. I wish you all the best with boot camp!
