29-Day Giving Challenge

I wish Mom's could fix all their children's boo-boo's. I never thought I would have to live through middle school and high school all over again. This time I relive those days through my daughters. Some happy and some pretty heavy hearted times. I take their pain and their heavy hearts and I cry for them.
I sat in my car waiting for my oldest to come out of school. As she walked across the parking lot, I could see and feel the sadness that was coming my way. I took a deep breathe and prayed it was something I could fix right away. She got into the car, shut the door and the big, alligator tears came flooding down her sweet cheeks. I immediately felt helpless. She didn't say anything to me. She just got out her iPod and listened to her music all the way home. I watched her in my rear view mirror as the tears continued to flow. When we got home, I told her I was there for her and gave her a big hug. I guess sometimes, that's all a mom can do. So my give today was simply, a HUG!

oh, you gave her more than a hug ....
you were there for her ....
and you responded .... what's the word I'm looking for? .... that thing where you're aware something's wrong, but you don't try to FORCE her to talk about it (my mom would've tried to make me talk) : )

i know what you mean, we wish we could take their hurts for them. you gave her space and let her know you were there if she needed you. that was the perfect gift for a teenage girl. Hugs, Dawn

The gift of touch for a daughter who must feel alone was just the right gift. I have teenagers and can totally relate to the sadness coming toward me as they walk out of school.

As hard as it is, they do grow up and we just get to watch. You did a great job giving her space and letting her know you were there. HUGS ARE THE BEST.

Wow, what a wonderful mom. I'm sure that she'll remember that hug when she needs soothing well into her adult years.
