5 more days have flown by...you know the Mon-Fri gig, and I'm celebrating with a glass of wine....ahhhh....I don't drink a lot. Don't like the way it makes me feel...and let's be honest the older I get the longer it takes me to recover, so heavy duty drinking (you know...2 drinks) is out...but occasionaly a glass of wine does take the edge off.
Part of the "edge" this week comes from un-named stress that I can't seem to shake, except that I haven't slept well at all this week. And I don't do well without sleep. So the "edgy" me is a little quicker to have a snippy tongue and a bit less patience.
But as I sip an non-memorable name from Trader Joes, I can feel the cranky me slough off and go sit in the corner with the dirty clothes that need to be washed this weekend.
Giving...yes...I gave...again, it's difficult to consider anything I do, that at the end of the day puts $$ on the paycheck a "give". It's just "what I do." But I'm sure my trainees, reps, other managers, and customers appreciate what they may perceive as extra help.
I did purchase some really cool vintage looking t-shirts from my boyfriends favorite website. Hello 50% off EVERYTHING and FREE shipping on an order of 3 or more items. He has no idea they are coming and I'm having them delivered to my office, not home. He will LOVE them...and look good in them (a gift for me).
And today I made a really terrific dinner (no, really, I CAN COOK) for the boyfriend and his brother who is spending the night with us.
But these things are what I would do anyway...but as I think about how BADLY I don't want to grocery shop at 5PM on a Friday when I am so tired, I think what a nice meal they will have...storing up on necessary energy for the wii competition they will be having late into the evening. And I realize I'm a pretty good "giver". Especially to those I love.
And we are on to the weekend where I know the opportunities will be more plentiful for the type of "giving" I prefer...to someone who needs and may not have the resources. I have books and magazines and some blankets that need new homes.
