29-Day Giving Challenge

Yesterday when we got the call about the shootings..our first thoughts was where were our loved ones. I called my brother who works on Fort Hood and friends making sure they were safe..with the news changing by the minute we knew we had alot of military families at school. We went on lock down and for hours just pulled together to make sure the children would be taken care of. The parents who were on post at the time could not get off. As a faculty I still stand amazed at the willingness to stay and take care of the children. Today I saw children with tummy aches and there was some tears for no reason. The fear was still felt and all I could do is give them a hug and reasure them that it was over and they are safe. How do you explain this to a 7 or 8 year old? I am still realing from it all and my heart is deeply saddened. I just want the families and loved ones to know how proud we are of our military. Being a veteran and part of the military community all my life. I have lost a brother, a sister, and I morn with you at this time.

You are in my prayers. What a tragic situation. It is comforting to know you were there with the kids. Hugs, Cathy

You must have been very calming to these children yesterday during the lock down. Today your gift of reassurance will help these young ones heal. Great gives these last two days. I will keep this community and all involved in my prayers.
