So, we've moved into a little 2 bedroom apartment on the 7th. Despite 2 years worth of downsizing & giving stuff away, of course we still have plenty of extra stuff! We had it in the trunk of Janet's car, ready to go to Goodwill. Well, we were taking our metal (bedframe & broken lamp) & recyclable stuff to the curb. We turned around to go back to get another armload & minutes later a truck pulled up to take the metal (they scrap metal around here for ca$h). So - Janet & I look at each other & go...wanna get the Goodwill stuff outta the car & bring it to the curb? Yes!! we agreed at once! We brought out a working lamp, a brand new shower curtain rod (we have a shower door now) & fireplace tools. We hadn't even laid it down when 2 ladies drive up, roll down their car window..."that lamp works?" Yes! We loaded all that stuff into their car, smiles all around...I said "glad the stuff is going to a good home!" Then we went back to the car for more stuff, laid it down & went back up into the apartment. I'm sitting in my office paying bills, looked out the window & saw the saddest sight, a young man in a jazzy-chair scooter & a little girl were coming down the street. He had a cardboard box on his lap with a faux plant; I just knew he was our next "customer". Sure enough, he picked up our rubbermaid box (pretty nice clean one) another lamp that will probably work with a new bulb, a small window screen & a little asian folding screen. Guys, he even picked up a folded up cardboard box we'd put out in recycling. The little girl was helping him. Here's what I've decided to do! I'm going out there every Sunday nite & I'm going to put out something valuable, a treasure if you will. Next week I know I am putting out a stuffed animal or a doll for that little girl; I hope they come by again. It seemed like a regular thing, sadly. XOXOXO Smile for Lubabat XOXOXO
