Day 1
I as a little nervous to start day 1. It was so much to live up to. But then I thought about it... this is not a contest! It is about making someone else's life easier, by just helping out. And I think I do that everyday. SO today, I did really simple things that gave to people, I'll never meet.
1st: I didn't throw anything out my car window. Yes I am ashamed to admit, but I do it a lot. So today everytime I had trash, I stopped the car, and found a trash can. Giving simply to the planet.
2nd: I gave the gift of a warm cup of coffee to a homeless man. Richmond is full of them, and well today was a nice day to sip on a cup of joe. So on my daily fix of Starbucks, I bought 2 cups. One for me, and one for the guy with the green jacket that sits in front of Krogers in carytown. He was pleased, and asked me for some extra sugar. (That I didn't have) But nonetheless... I think he enjoyed it.
3rd: I help an older lady push her basket out to her car. I only had one bag, and my daughter. So we helped her out to her car at Krogers.
I can not afford to give gifts of material things everyday, but I am making it a point to give the gift of happiness, and support for the next 28days. It is already fun, and I think my daughter will be the next wave of gifters.

You had a very good first day. I especially liked you helping the lady with her bags. I agree, this is not a competition, it is a challenge. The blog is for support and inspiration. Sharing with others your day is also a gift. It doesn't always have to be a good day. Sometimes you will need the support of this community to get pass some rough days. That is sharing at its best.

Way to go, girl! I posted a quote the other day on my blog that I happened to see and it says something to the effect of: Giving is not a competition, when we realize that we have so much more to give!
I can't always give material or tangibles either, but just realizing that our time or making eye contact with people and giving them a big smile, or compliment or leaving some coupons I'm not going to use near the products they are for, or surprising friends with emails or phone calls just to say hi and brighten their day, these things are all gifts also! And most of the time they mean a lot to the person receiving them!
