Day 1 was actually motivating for me in a way I hadn't expected. My friend's husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I called her to let her talk about it - which I would've thought about doing, but would've put it off. After we talked I thought maybe I should get a card and send it to both of them. This isn't unusual for me to think about doing something nice. My problem is taking the action and following through. So my challenge was to go get a card, write in it and actually get it to the post office in the same day. I went during my lunch hour and found a card and also picked up a Thanksgiving card for my mom which I've done before but never sent. When I got back to work I realized I didn't have any stamps, but I knew I had some at home. Well I could just put them in the mail the next day. Which meant I would have to remember the stamps and then make sure I took them to a post office, but then my mom wouldn't get her card before Thanksgiving. That would've been my plan even though there is a post office less than a block away from my work. But it was my first day of giving so why not take 15 minutes and walk there get stamps and mail the cards right away. So I did it! I followed through! That was almost more rewarding then the act of sending the cards. Is this my reward? If so it's AWSOME! I'm even following thru by taking time to write this! And I've never blogged before either. I don't know what today will bring, but I do know I can't wait!
