DAY 1-8th February
I watched a breakfast television show (Morning Live) and got aware of the 29-Day Giving challenge. It struck me as a very thoughtful and noble idea that I decided there and then that I was going to sign up, only problem is I dont know when and how to start.
Later in the day, I received a text message from a friend informing me of her daughter's admission to the hospital awaiting a blood transfusion. As I didnt know how bad the situation was, I decided to go be with her and drove straight to the hospital after work .On my arrival at the hospital, I walked pass a gift shop and it immediately struck me that I should start my giving challenge! I went into the shop and bought a cute teddy bear to take with to the sick girl. The mum had just left to pick her little sister from school, so she was alone in a private ward and very bored. I gave her the teddy gift and spent some time with her. I only left after some family members arrived at the hospital. So on my first day, I did not only give a gift , I gave my time as well and the feeling was great!
DAY 2
While watching the same TV show again this morning , the presenter solicited for donations for the Haiti Disaster Fund initiated by the TV Channel.I immediately knew that would be my second day giving! I went to the TV channel website to search for the account number of the fund and I went to deposit my widow's mite.
It was only later after I had given my second day gift today that I sat down to sign up for the challenge!
DAY 3
I travelled out of town and was very busy that I really panicked if I will be able to have time to make contact to be able to give. At the same time, I have no clue of what gift to give. When I walked into the house and met my domestic worker at the door, I instantly got an idea of what to give. I walked into my bedroom, opened my wardrobe and picked a 3 piece outfit that I like and gave it to my helper. She asked if I wanted her to iron or to wash and I replied "no, I am giving it to you" She asked "You give it to me?" and I replied "yes" Her face lit up and she danced around while repeatedly saying thank u! I feel blessed.
