29-Day Giving Challenge

Today was the first day of my giving challenge. I decided to give my first gift to my mom. My idea was to give her some love and spend some time with her. We made arrangements last night to get together today.

When we spoke this morning, we decided to get together after my son's nap. That left me a couple hours to get some things done around the house. I found myself feeling really tired. I didn't really get a lot of sleep last night and the sleep I did get was restless!

So my first gift was actually to myself. I decided I would take a nap when my son went down. And for 2 glorious hours, I lay in bed and relaxed, sleeping on and off. I got up feeling much better and was ready to give my second gift for the day.

Mom came over and I made her some lunch (she brought the chicken, thanks Mom!). We had decided to take a walk and so I packed up everything into the car. My idea was to surprise her and take her to Orleans. There is a great coffee shop there where I would buy her a coffee and a bike path across the street we could walk on. We got to the coffee shop and I treated us to some herbal teas (not as exciting as I would have liked, considering). While I was there, I saw some decadent desert bars that I knew my husband would love. I picked up 2, one for him and one for a friend.

We left the coffee shop and as we started to walk, we noticed a local store that has great train displays. We decided to take my son in to see them (his latest favorite is the choo choo). We walked all around the store, looked at the trains, shopped a little and by the time we were done, it was too dark to walk. So we came home.

I came home, fixed dinner and decided to write this blog. So here I am, successful on my first day of this challenge.

As to what I received.....I had a great time with my mom, so I got a fun day! I got to see my sons face when he saw the trains all set up. I got to go to one of my favorite coffee shops and savor the tempting aromas of chocolate and coffee! I got to get my gift that I am giving tomorrow. And I made my husband and my friend happy with the decadent desert bars that I bought. So all in all, it was a good way to start the challenge

Until tomorrow....
